Saturday, July 3, 2010. The Beach right outside our room! Josh and I after our Tour de St. Lucia. Behind us to the right is a bay where 95% of the slaves entered the island during the imperial colonial days. Sugar Cane was a huge cash crop on the island. To the left is a mountain (there are 137 mountain ranges on the island! That was once believed to be inhabited by the devil - when slaves escaped they went to the mountain. Today almost every resident on the mountain is a direct descendant of a slave.
