Kinetic sculptures based on geometric progressions and fractals. Robotic Sheet Metal Folding. A folding device was outfitted to the end of a robotic arm. This system was used fold strips of sheet metal in various patterns. The patterns were determined by a coded sequence of moves. A genetic algorithm which optimizes the shape of a structure. Genetic Algorithms are optimization heuristics based on the process of natural selection in nature. Sculptures created using 3d modeling and unfolding software.
