Sarah Cawkwell's Blog. The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense. — Tom Clancy. October 21, 2014. Well, this has been quiet for a while, hasn’t it? This is in part due to a combination of real life pressures, general apathy and a lack of anything remotely interesting to discuss. But there’s something that I was talking about yesterday that’s prompted me to write an entry. 1) Cross-country pantomime;. 2) ‘Like paintball, but with swords and stuff’;. When you become an ad...

Sarah Cawkwell's Blog. The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense. — Tom Clancy. July 1, 2014. Help Wanted – Apply Within. I haven’t updated the blog much of late. Or even remotely recently, if I’m honest. But for once, I find a subject that motivates me to flex my ranting muscles just a little. PUGs are the stuff of nightmares. Boy Was I wrong. Usually, the PUG would remain silent. Not even a cheery ‘hello’. It was. Well, yes. It’s the first dungeon of the gam...Like so...

Sarah Cawkwell's Blog. The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense. — Tom Clancy. June 7, 2016. As a woman in her forties and who can no longer use the excuse that I’m not old enough to know better, I’m going to come clean about something. Basically, I no longer care what the world at large thinks of me. Every suggestion is perfect. Why, you’re perfect as you are. You are the perfect demographic. Do what you like. Go where you want. Wear an old bin bag for...Truth is, I’m...

Sarah Cawkwell's Blog. The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense. — Tom Clancy. March 27, 2014. Extract 4: ‘Heirs of the Demon King: Uprising’. So many reports. Weaver growled quietly as he read. A plague upon the people of this country. Nothing seemed to get through to them. Threats that were made and carried out served as little more than a temporary bump in the unholy road they persisted along. There was a tapping at the study door and Weaver raised his head. You may...

Villains With Potential-The Basilisk - jreynolds

Villains With Potential-The Basilisk. February 6th, 2011. No, not that one. Basil Elks, the original A-number one stunner. Literally. Capable of holding off the Thing AND Spider-Man simultaneously, the Basilisk died ignominiously at the hands of the Scourge, only to be resurrected to fight the Punisher. Since then he hasn't been seen. And there's a very good reason for that. And, too, the Basilisk isn't the only wielder of a Kree power source on Earth. There are a number of others, including Moonston...

Villains With Potential-Hammer and Anvil. March 8th, 2011. These fine gentleman are simultaneously the dumbest and most awesome concept I have ever seen, no lie. A psychopath and a racist with a symbiotic link granted by a metal-eating alien. Oh, and they're dead now, thanks to the Scourge of the Underworld. Not much potential there, right? Well, no. Otherwise this would post would be unnecessary. For the superpower set, only without Danny Glover's rampant nudity or Mel Gibson's hair. For their own ends.
