Where are all the role models? I have always been confounded when I came across references to women I'd never heard of who achieved amazing feats in small boats on the world's oceans. Why had I never heard of them? Why weren't they role models? I knew of all the male sailors and circumnavigators - Slocum, Chichester, Moitessier, Knox-Johnston and so on. I knew their stories in detail. Why had I never heard of Ann Davison, Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz and Naomi James? 2 Ann Chamberlyne (1667-1691).
