Adult figure skater learning ice dance and being barely competent. October 27, 2014. Had what I considered a rough lesson last week, but Coach1 seemed happy with it. I understand where she is coming from, of course, but my natural caution, particularly when it comes to skating, says that stable is a really good thing! On the up side, apparently I managed to look like I was enjoying the Dutch Waltz, which is an improvement over my normal expressions of either worried or petrified! And tagged adult skating.

Friday, May 1, 2015. 2014/15 Season Wrap Up. Sixteen columns of ice pass stickers x eight rows = 128 times on the ice between July 2014 and May 2015. It scares me to guesstimate the $ value of all those hours on the ice. Sunday, June 21, 2015. The parent is a special coach. After recovering from her ankle injury and now back skating, it has been several months since I've had the pleasure of watching my daughter. I notice she has some technical faults - elements that "project" incorrectly. Hmmm, she says. So she goes back out on the ice and spins a couple more while I tape again. Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Summer Doldrums are better than Summer Tantrums but only just. Since my home rink closed for it's customary two month maintenance routine I've gone from skating four to six times a week to maybe twice a week if I'm lucky, when the alternate rink's (Piney Orchard) schedule and mine align. One of those times includes an ice dance lesson so I'm guaranteed to get on the ice at least once a week. Knees before placing the free skate on the ice. It actually worked!
