Be well. Be better. Be everything you can be. Just 'be'. Wednesday, 3 September 2014. 8216; I always thought a man should have a dream, to dig himself out when he hit the floor. 8211; Martyn Joseph, 'People Crazy As Me'. People Crazy As Me -. In my darkest times, one thing has helped me to pull myself up again: my dreams. There are a few things I want to do before I die and, if I give in, cash in my chips, call it a day, those dreams will never get done. 8217; by Deacon Blue (I'll warn you now, it's quit...

Be well. Be better. Be everything you can be. Just 'be'. Monday, 3 June 2013. What it really means to 'do your best'. 100% can be a fluid concept. 8216;Do your best’ is a common piece of encouragement, and it’s a good one: no-one can ask any more of you than your ‘best’. We believe we haven’t done our best. I’d argue, unless we were sat around eating chips and playing on the Xbox for 3 weeks beforehand, we still did our ‘best’. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Be well. Be better. Be everything you can be. Just 'be'. Thursday, 14 August 2014. The unimportance of liking oranges (or not). Today, I read this article. In the Independent about Vicky Beeching, a prominent Christian singer/songwriter for churches. Firstly, this isn’t a post about religion. This is a post about how we live and how we act towards others. (Some might say that’s what religion is supposed to be about…). Do your best, live well, and help (or at least let! And I think Jesus would agree.).

B...: A happy 2015?
http://martinjflett.blogspot.com/2015/01/a-happy-2015.html
Be well. Be better. Be everything you can be. Just 'be'. Friday, 9 January 2015. When you think of happiness, what comes to mind? I think we spend most of our time, energy and money, not on trying to be happy, but on trying to be comfortable. We save for a new PC, or a bigger TV; we want efficient heating, and a nice car to take us places, dry with the minimum effort. This time next year, it will be far better to look back on than any Blu-ray movie. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

B...: How to be a success.
http://martinjflett.blogspot.com/2014/10/how-to-be-success.html
Be well. Be better. Be everything you can be. Just 'be'. Thursday, 23 October 2014. How to be a success. Is this all success is? Success is elusive. It can be really difficult to achieve, particularly if by ‘success’ we mean writing a best-seller, earning a fortune, or having loads of people queuing for our autograph. I confess I felt a pang of envy when I saw a line of people snaking through a shopping centre recently, all waiting for a book-signing at a nearby store. It’s tempting to judge oursel...

B...: Achieving life's goals.
http://martinjflett.blogspot.com/2014/07/achieving-lifes-goals.html
Be well. Be better. Be everything you can be. Just 'be'. Wednesday, 23 July 2014. Two years ago, I wrote this. About some of the things I wanted to do in my life. Re-reading it now, I’m pleased to see I’ve succeeded in a couple: I visited Findochty, and I’ve finished my first novel. Unfortunately I haven’t yet learned to play Johnny B. Goode. Marty McFly style and I may have to accept I will never achieve this one. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Creative writer, thinker, musician, dreamer, with an a...

B...: What if...?
http://martinjflett.blogspot.com/2014/08/what-if.html
Be well. Be better. Be everything you can be. Just 'be'. Friday, 1 August 2014. One of the key questions an author asks when writing a story is: ‘What if…? 8217; What if our hero met someone in a bar? What if they got lost on the way home? What if they found a treasure? Or, if we’re particularly short of ideas, what if ninjas burst through the wall. And, what if I’m not? One time, I wrote a song, just after I’d finished recording an album:. But, I wrote the song, and my next album, Becoming Human. But, i...
