Not Waving But Drowning | Jotter Notes
https://jotternotes.wordpress.com/2011/02/27/not-waving-but-drowning
A blog by Dave Maney. February 27, 2011. Not Waving But Drowning. Posted by David under Poetry. Nobody heard him, the dead man,. But still he lay moaning:. I was much further out than you thought. And not waving but drowning. Poor chap, he always loved larking. And now he’s dead. It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,. Oh, no no no, it was too cold always. Still the dead one lay moaning). I was much too far out all my life. And not waving but drowning. 8211; Stevie Smith.

A blog by Dave Maney. November 30, 2010. Posted by David under Uncategorized. Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit. September 2, 2010. What we do is just a shadow of what we want to do. Posted by David under Anecdotal Evidence. Before deciding what is wrong and what is right. First we must find out what we are. Do not know myself. No sooner have I discovered something. Than I begin to doubt it. And I have to destroy it again. What we do is just a shadow of what we want. And the only truths we can point to.

lozguistics: August 2011
http://lozguistics.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 5, 2011. Strange ideas I sometimes have. I was chatting to a class about dialects of English the other day, and how some are so different as to almost boarder on being non-mutually comprehensible. I think it would be excellent to have a Creole where the superstrate and substrate languages are both English. I got terribly excited about the idea but the students didn't appear to take to it as much as I did. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
lozguistics: September 2011
http://lozguistics.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 11, 2011. This year I'm making the most of being home for a whole 12 months by doing lots of teaching as well as lots of writing. Last week I was fortunate enough to give a lecture in the subject that I'm tutoring for! The subject is all about linguistic diversity, and it's designed for students who are at the end of their undergraduate course. Hopefully the students also found it relatively painless. Friday, February 24, 2012. The disappearing field trip. This blog has taken a bit of a back seat this year. That's partly because of Superlinguo. I guess, but also partly because this is no longer so novel. I'm used to Kathmandu, with it's shoddy electricity, cows on the road and chaotic colour. I'm also more relaxed and confident about exactly what the hell I'm doing with my work day to day. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. lozguistics: Spring at home
http://lozguistics.blogspot.com/2011/10/spring-at-home.html
Monday, October 3, 2011. Thanks to a couple of years of fieldwork it's been a long time since I've enjoyed a spring at home. It's been so nice with the football grand final, the start of daylight savings and the jasmine blossoms. It makes a change from the humid, sticky end of monsoon in Nepal! Monday, January 30, 2012. I'm in India this week for the North East Indian Linguistics Society annual conference. lozguistics: Back in the 'du
http://lozguistics.blogspot.com/2012/01/back-in-du.html
Sunday, January 22, 2012. Back in the 'du. It's nice to be back, but Nepal is having the coldest winter in quite a while and the chilly temperatures in the morning and evening are quite a shock. The days are still warm enough if the sky is clear and the sun can shine - and it's certainly a good topic of conversation. January 23, 2012 at 4:13 AM. Stay warm. The NE is having one of its coldest winters too. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Gastro, Bhandas, and Festivities.

lozguistics: Hello, Goodbye
http://lozguistics.blogspot.com/2012/01/hello-goodbye.html
Thursday, January 12, 2012. Hello sadly neglected blog! Another field trip looms - I'll be back in Nepal on Monday for the final PhD-related visit. It's only two months, which I know sounds facetious given that two months is a long time, but after the previous visits this one feels much shorter. I'll also be spending a week of that time at a conference in India, as though two months weren't short enough already. It's been a big year of linguistics for me. Superlinguo. With speakers of a related language.

This way I know I run the most recent version of the OS and its security patches. Today, while being connected to the internet via my cell phone, Windows started a huge download bringing my already slow connection to a virtual halt. 1] 'Start or stop Windows update service'. The conscious act of WRITING has been part of my psyche since I was 4 years old. Mama handed me my first Big Chief tablet and a career was born. Although in recent years, I've become closely associated with White Rose history and German resistance, my interests extend far beyond that topic. On these pages, join me as I write, and think about writing. Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Changing, and not so changing, times. It's funny. When I wrote. Wow How times have changed!
