Jottings Of A Girl | Ups and downs of a twenty-something girl.
Jottings Of A Girl. Ups and downs of a twenty-something girl. Why I’m Off to Buy Some Broccoli. October 21, 2013. As a child, I. Broccoli. It may not have been the taste or the texture, but possibly just the fact that it was green and weird-looking. When I came into my teens, I started to realise that vegetables weren’t, in fact, the work of the devil and that the majority were pretty tolerable even if not enjoyable. However, it may have more health benefits that you realise. I know I’ll be putting...

Jottings of a Japanophile
Jottings of a Japanophile. Monday, November 7, 2011. Nara's Big Buddha, Deer in the Public Park, and Tofu. Last week on Thursday, because school was on holiday, my host mom offered to take me to the neighboring prefecture of Nara to see the Daibutsu, or Big Biddha. This is the biggest Buddha statue in the world, from what I've heard. She also said that there is a famous only tofu restaurant nearby the public park, which happened to have hundreds of deer living there. I was totally in. We stopped and I to...

Jottings Of Japan Part 2
Jottings Of Japan Part 2. Since last post, I took action. I decided rather than saying. I wanted a better work/life balance, I decided to actually do. I realised I needed to reign in the workload. I realised that if I didn't speak up, nothing was going to change. So I spoke up. And I found that after I did, I felt a whole lot better. It's amazing how powerful talking can be. Letting things out rather than keeping them in. And then, I left the office at 730pm. And didn't bring work home. I am loving it.
jottings of joy – about things that matter
About things that matter. The church floor was filthy. I had never seen such a dirty church floor. Clods of black dirt covered the shiny white tiles and black bare feet stood on it or traipsed in more. At first I thought, Why don’t they clean this up and take more pride in their church? But then I looked at the eager devoted faces, then at their dress, then at their feet. This was the church at Bulolo in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. When we sang the old time hymns.
