Reporting at Texas Southern University. One of the stories we most frequently encounter is the second-day story. That’s a story about something that has already happened, and we’re just now finding out about it or for some reason or other just now reporting it. Instead, use the present perfect tense: has announced. Say the dean has announced so and so. Then in the second paragraph or wherever it i appropriate, put when the dean made the announcement. If it’s significant, what were the circumstances?
