Some friends of mine and I have been particiapting in a cookies exchage for year. This weekend was our 14th annual. This was my cookie this year. It is SOOO good. Modified from a Martha Stewart recipe in Living). 20 round hard peppermint candies. 1 ¼ Cup flour. 190; cup unsweetened Dutch cocoa powder. 188; t salt. 2 t instant espresso powder. 1 ½ sticks unsalted butter, softened. Ground peppermint candies in food processor. Preheat oven to 325. Combine dry ingredients (Flour, cocoa, salt, espresso powder).

We ended up having 18 kids. What a blast. Robinson TaeKwonDo (where we all train) took care of all the details and kept the kids hoppin. It was a blast. Here are some shots. He can always make us smile. and he's shown in his 4 short years how much of a survivor he is. The classic "jack in the box". He thinks it is hilarious. He broke his leg when he was 14 months. And of course we all remember when he fell out of our second story window and ended up at OHSU for 5 days.

I think after tomorrow he'll be exhausted. Happy but exhausted. Oscar started taking Martial Arts lessons 2 years ago. Today he graduated from the Lil Dragon program at Ernie Reyes West Coast Martial Arts. I love that this year they have full on uniforms. they are all so cute. We have 2 games this week in addition to his practice.

There was a ceremony and both boys had their first games. Here are the uniforms. Oscar's team is the Washington Nationals. Calvin's are the Boston Red Sox. Aren't they cute? These pictures are of the opening ceremony. ALL the players from the smallest to the big big kids went out as they called the team names. That was cool.

Thursday, August 22, 2013. Our new normal consists of getting up at 7:00 to take Michael to school. That's crazy early for us. We like to sleep around here. And since we get up early every day, that means that sleeping in on the weekends is a thing of the past. It has taken some getting used to, but I think we're making it work. There are definitely good things about getting up early. 1) Our days seem longer, which is nice! Although, the kids are in bed by 8 and I'm in bed by 9. Monday, August 19, 2013.
