My first encounters with art were more like encounters with creativity. Growing up, my father owned a surplus store. The merchandise for sale consisted of the liquidations of discarded material from defunct companies. Over the years I learned to look at all the stuff on the shelves and in the bins, not for what it was, but for what it could be! Seeing things in this way early on has carried over into my adult life. I seek unique possibilities for joining common subjects and materials.
