Jessica's Peace Corps Honduras Blog: Rain Rain Go Away/The Wheels on the Bus

http://jpball.blogspot.com/2011/10/rain-rain-go-awaythe-wheels-on-bus.html

Jessica's Peace Corps Honduras Blog. Thursday, October 20, 2011. Rain Rain Go Away/The Wheels on the Bus. The next problem I am facing is the mud! With no paved roads within 20 miles of my town, our dirt roads have turned into rivers or swamps. Try as I might, I can’t leave my house with out getting covered in mud. I can’t even wash my muddy shoes/clothes because I have no sun to dry them with! A river, I mean road, in my town. Orange wine for sale in Marcala! Some men trying to bull our bus up the hill.

Jessica's Peace Corps Honduras Blog: March 2011

http://jpball.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Jessica's Peace Corps Honduras Blog. Monday, March 21, 2011. As I start my fourth week in Honduras, not a whole lot has changed. I am still in training Monday thru Saturday, still spend time with host family and I am continuing to learn more and more with each passing day. On Friday, I went with a small group of fellow trainees into Teguz to visit a market. It was an exercise for our Spanish classes to practice using public transportation and shopping. The trip was more or less uneventful. I am not sure ...

Jessica's Peace Corps Honduras Blog. Thursday, September 1, 2011. 6 lessons learned after 6 months in Honduras. August 24, 2011 marked 6 months in Honduras for me. It also marked my half birthday, which makes me think its time to have my quarter-life crisis, as I will be 25 in only 6 months! 1 I don’t have to be a picky eater. 2 Patience is a virtue. 3 I am braver than I thought I was. The Scorpion I killed! 4 I took a lot of things for granted before Peace Corps. 5 Don’t sweat the small stuff. 8230;Well...

My adventure as a business development volunteer with Peace Corps. Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Since my last update, I have been unbelivably busy (warning: long post), and I am definitely getting into the swing of things with work. Of papers sitting before us! Plus the staffs of the 2 bilingual schools, myself, and my sitemate, and we are going to be overflowing with gringos for the next 2 months! Yesterday I gave an HIV charla to a group of high school age students with the two volunteers from La Esperanz...

Andrea in Honduras: April 2011

http://andreainhonduras.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

My adventure as a business development volunteer with Peace Corps. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Things are still going well here, although it doesn't feel like I have much to report. But they liked us, and we had a decent amount of fun. We also did a business project on tourism this week, where we visited a few attractions and camped at a balneario, which was basically a fake beach. It was nice, and we played sand soccer and volleyball, which killed our feet but was very fun. Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Anyway,...

My adventure as a business development volunteer with Peace Corps. Thursday, July 28, 2011. Dear taxi drivers in Teguz,. I just got out of a taxi. I don't want another taxi. If I did, I would not be getting out of this one. Stop bombarding me. SHUT UP. For the love of god. It is 2am. Dear host family,. French fries are not the same food group as sandwich bread. When I have amoebic dysentery and ask for pan sandwich, please do not bring me papas fritas. Dear dog shrouded in fleas,. Dear kid on bicycle,.

Andrea in Honduras: August 2011

http://andreainhonduras.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

My adventure as a business development volunteer with Peace Corps. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. It's hard to believe I've been in Honduras over 6 months! Time has really been flying, especially recently. I just got back to site after a longer-than-planned vacation out west. I went for the weekend, but ended up getting another bout of amoebas and had to stay longer (trust me, you do NOT want to take a bus down a bumpy dirt road when you have a stomach parasite! Me: Yes, I am here! So if you disappear for a...

Andrea in Honduras: Do not pass go, do not collect $200

http://andreainhonduras.blogspot.com/2012/01/do-not-pass-go-do-not-collect-200.html

My adventure as a business development volunteer with Peace Corps. Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. I'm not gonna lie, the past few weeks have been very difficult. We are restricted in what we can do and have been getting limited information about the next steps. We are being asked to leave this country that we now call home, without warning or closure. Pepe Lobo came to town for his birthday, and we got to meet him again. They also taught us how to make tamales. Jessica's ...

My adventure as a business development volunteer with Peace Corps. Monday, June 25, 2012. I was lucky enough to have a nice last few weeks in Otoro with my host family and friends, and also to have both of my training host families visit during our closing conference in Tegus. http://andreainhonduras.blogspot.com/2011/10/you-know-youre-becoming-catrachoa-when.html

My adventure as a business development volunteer with Peace Corps. Monday, October 24, 2011. You know you're turning into a Catracha when. You use an umbrella for shade. You drink Tropical Banana and/or Uva and decide it doesn't taste half bad. You use the phrase "Gracias a Dios" at least twice a day. You voluntarily put refried beans on a fried plantain. You voluntarily put mantequilla on anything. You hear a reggaeton beat in the background at all times. You plan to show up to meetings an hour late.

Andrea in Honduras: September 2011

http://andreainhonduras.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

My adventure as a business development volunteer with Peace Corps. Sunday, September 18, 2011. Día de Independencia, Caos, y Cambio. Oh, the updates! The past 2 weeks have included Reconnect, a hospital visit, Independence Day, and moving into my new apartment. So sit back. Being sick and having 90 pent-up volunteers in one place for 5 days was a little too much for me, but there was one highlight of the week - our fantasy football draft! There are pictures from practice, the preschool parade, and the ma...
