Largest elevation climbed in one day. 4,200 feet Gubbio - Assisi. Most beautiful and pleasant cycling day.

It was actually a great day of cycling except for the first leg, out of Orvieto, in quite a bit of holiday traffic on a long, winding, uphill, pot-holed road. As we got closer and closer to Tuscany, the traffic lightened up and the road surface got better. In only a few hours we reached our destination: Pitigliano. As opposed to Orvieto, which dates from the Middle Ages, Pitigliano was primarily built during the Renaissance. È solo l'inizio.

It was only a half day since we wanted to visit Rieti and rest up for the next day, a big ride to Collalto Sabino. Just another road to cycle in Italy. This one is quite pleasant and, after an initial mountain (of course), flat for much of the time! We have reached Rieti! In spite of the everchanging skies, there is a lot of activity on the river . including rowing and bicycling. È solo l'inizio.
