Transposzing: June 2011
http://transposzing.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Learning to sing in a different key. Thursday, June 9, 2011. Reason #951 Why I Don't Belong on Facebook. Stuff like this always reminds me that I don't fit real easily into the stereotypes that American Orthodox Christians - especially converts like me - have created for themselves. But it also reminds me how useless stereotypes are. YOU KNOW YOU'RE AN ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN WHEN . You want to venerate icons when you see them. You instinctively cross yourself in the Orthodox manner. I instinctively make the ...

Transposzing: Prayer for the Blessing of Water
http://transposzing.blogspot.com/2013/01/prayer-for-blessing-of-water.html
Learning to sing in a different key. Saturday, January 5, 2013. Prayer for the Blessing of Water. Wherefore do Thou, O King Who lovest mankind, come down now also through the descent of Thy Holy Spirit, and sanctify this water. Thrice. Do Thou Thyself, O Master, sanctify now also this water by Thy Holy Spirit. Thrice. Grant also unto all who shall be sprinkled therewith, and shall partake thereof, and shall anoint themselves therewith, sanctification, blessing, purification and bodily health.

Transposzing: Love is of God
http://transposzing.blogspot.com/2013/04/love-is-of-god.html
Learning to sing in a different key. Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Love is of God. We heard a little addendum to the sermon at church yesterday about love and about how we shouldn't judge the way others love. I think that was the point of the addendum, but I can only speculate (and would probably be wrong) as to why it was offered on the Sunday of the Cross, when we are so clearly shown in the liturgy what love is and what it looks like. Transposzing: Everywhere Present
http://transposzing.blogspot.com/2012/12/everywhere-present.html
Learning to sing in a different key. Wednesday, December 19, 2012. In the wake of the horrible tragedy in CT last Friday, the above viral photo-post appeared numerous times in both my Facebook feed and also in my husband's. He offered the following response, and I thought it worthwhile for sharing. Would allowing prayer in our public schools prevent shooters killing kids in school? How would we even decide what kind of prayer to have in our schools? Of the Protestant fundamentalist stripe? All of this is...

Transposzing: July 2011
http://transposzing.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Learning to sing in a different key. Monday, July 4, 2011. We lost our family dog about a month ago. And I don't love me a Rottweiler. Any Rottweiler. I know many people love them and that they have been great family pets for some. I have even met a few who seemed OK. Cesar Milan (an amazing man, really, and sort of a hero in my book) has a special place in his heart for Rotts. No matter - I just don't trust them. (or Dobermans or Pitt Bulls, either). And one who's been abused? I don't think so.

Transposzing: A Hymn for Advent
http://transposzing.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-hymn-for-advent.html
Learning to sing in a different key. Sunday, December 2, 2012. A Hymn for Advent. This hymn has been on my mind all week. EACH WINTER AS THE YEAR GROWS OLDER. By William and Annabeth Gay. Each winter as the year grows older,. We each grow older too. The chill sets in a little colder;. The verities we knew. Seem shaken and untrue. When race and class cry out for treason,. When sirens call for war,. They overshout the voice of reason. And scream till we ignore. All we held dear before. Deb on the Run.

Transposzing: May 2011
http://transposzing.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Learning to sing in a different key. Monday, May 2, 2011. The man who thinks with malice of his enemies has not God's love within him, and does not know God. If you will pray for your enemies, peace will come to you; but when you can love your enemies- know that a great measure of the grace of God dwells in you." - St. Silouan. Upon those who love us, and those who hate us, Lord have mercy. I may have more to say about this later. Or I may not. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 12 Things I Wish I'd Known.
