Shakespeare said, that we are dying from the moment we take are first breath, and yet it is the one topic that few people feel comfortable talking about. When someone you know is diagnosed with cancer, the first thing that enters the mind is "Am I going to die? There are alternatives: instead of surgically building a nipple, some women have 3D tattoos that appear to be of a nipple and an areola, but which are smooth. That doesn't really work for us Unis though. So, do I or don't I? Do I get a nipple recreation with an areola tattoo, or not? The deciding factor might be this: I am dying to ask my future grandchildren if they want to see granny's tattoo.

Wednesday, August 24, 2011. It's Just Hair . . . Right? I’ve tried just about every hair-style out there, but now I can officially add Sineade O’Connor’s to my portfolio. After having this last round of my Poisoned cocktail, “the Devil’s Kool-aid,” my hair decided to go! Which was probably a good thing, considering the kids thought I was loosing my mind along with my hair, (probably because I kept asking them if we had a cat that I didn’t know about? And yes there were tears, but it was not do to the los...

Saturday, January 31, 2015. TO BE OR NOT TO BE . . . Life is filled with choices and with each choice comes a consequence. In 2011 when I was diagnosed with the BRCA 1 gene, I couldn't wait for my family to get tested to help prevent them from getting cancer. Needless to say I was shocked when most of my sisters didn't want to get the test. Not only were they denying themselves the chance to beat breast cancer and ovarian cancer, but they were closing a door to their children's futures. IF they had the B...

So Much More: Knowing or Not Knowing?

Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Knowing or Not Knowing? A friend of mine passed away from lung cancer four months before I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I remember my sister posing a question to me a year before I was diagnosed that struck me as rather odd. The question she asked was if I had a choice, would I want to know if I was going to die or not know if I was given a choice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Rules to Live By. Monday, April 13, 2015. Choose to Be or Choose Not to Be! Why do we as human's feel that we must weigh in on other people's choice to live or die? I'm not talking about abortion here, I'm talking about death with dignity. So here is my question, if you knew you had a terminal disease and that you were going to leave this world in a painful and degrading manner would you choose to end your life early? Love and peace to you all.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Rules to Live By. Turning Back the Clock.

Sunday, July 24, 2011. Well Meaning but Clueless Comments People Say:. Most of you that know me are aware that I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2011. I have since undergone a double-mastectomy and had five lymph-nodes removed from my left arm-pit. Two out of the five, tested positive for cancer. (This means I will have a port put in my chest next week and will start Chemo-therapy. After that I will undergo Radiation on my left breast and left arm-pit.). Since my mastectomy, I’ve gone in...
