With Love, From Jan. What's for Dinner Tonight? Thursday, July 26, 2007. On my recent trip home to Missouri I was treated to a meal of my brother's famous smoked ribs and brisket. The food, and Holland's skills, lived up to their reputation. I knew then and there, that Randy and I had to get our own smoker. In the drip/steam pan we used water for the ribs and brisket; next time we will try a mixture of water and apple juice. For the chicken we experminted and used water, apple juice, and a white wine...

With Love, From Jan. Grandma Oveta and Poke. Monday, April 09, 2007. Her diary entries consist of who called or came by to visit or where she went; what work she did that day; who was sick or died; and often she commented on the weather, the condition of the garden, and what she and my grandfather had for dinner or supper. Here is the entry for January 1, 1965 (note: I am entering this exactly as she wrote it but am adding information that I feel is necessary in parenthesis):. I do have another book that...

With Love, From Jan. Grandma Joy's Runny Oatmeal. Friday, July 14, 2006. One of April's great pleasures of visiting family in Missouri was eating my Mother's cooking. She especially loved her Grandma Joy's dill pickles and as April called it, Grandma's Runny Oatmeal. Well honestly it could also be because my mother often cooked without measuring making it hard for any of us to cook it just like she did. April says this was the instructions:. With Love, From Jan. Tuesday, August 07, 2007. I have been making this play dough since my daughter April was a little girl. It requires a small amount of effort but the results are a smooth and pliable dough - far better than any play dough you can purchase. I still occassionally purchase PlayDough - the accessories that come with the dough are great and the containers are good for storing our homemade dough. 4 Tablespoons Cream of Tarter. Yesterday the kids played with Jungle Green and Watermelon Red.
