"Ilium" by Dan Simmons: pghbookclub
http://pghbookclub.livejournal.com/7180.html
Ilium" by Dan Simmons. I recently read Dan Simmon's novel Ilium. I thought it was an excellent book, brining elements of Homer's Iliad. And Shakespeare's The Tempest. Into a fascinating science fiction story set thousands of years in the future. If you liked Simmon's Hyperion saga, I expect you'd enjoy the new world he creates in Ilium. (I was amused by a reference to a famous CMU professor and his research.). Has anyone else read anything interesting lately? Post a new comment. Post a new comment.

Moose J. Finklestein. Rule One: People Are Idjits. It's ok to be a bigot - if you're hating the fatties. Jul 29th, 2012 at 3:42 PM. A picture showed up in a friend's Facebook feed of a woman wearing a bathing suit, who clearly weighs more than what society tells us is "normal.". The comments with the most "likes" are things like:. I have no pity for fat people, they are simply too lazy to bother to diet.". There's no excuse to be this fat.". She's bigger than the water she's standing in.". A lot of the e...

Waiting and waiting in line - (null)
http://gerr.livejournal.com/76007.html
Waiting and waiting in line. Mr Brightside - The Killers. This weekend, I waited in line for almost half a day. On Friday, I joined a line to get an iPhone at the AT&T store. The line wasn't long, but AT&T either isn't able to get phones or is incapable of estimating demand. They ran out of 16G models as I approached the end of the line. After three hours of standing, I went home. Posted on Jul. 13th, 2008 at 07:56 pm. Posted on Jul. 15th, 2008 01:32 am (UTC). Powered by LiveJournal.com.

Tue, 26 Aug 2003. Aug 26, 2003 16:23. I've replaced the blog on this site with blosxom (supported by the web hosting company. From PHPosxom, which was kind of hacked into place. Aug 26, 2003 15:54. I'm still using livejournal's blogging features. One nice thing is now it has blogger posting compatibility, so I can use NetNewsWire to send posts. I'm slightly tempted to try TypePad, but I'm going to wait and see. Particularly since I'm paying for livejournal right now. Aug 26, 2003 15:54. Aug 26, 2003 15:53.
