Documenting my travels around South East Asia. Singapore. oh the humidity. The flight from Abu Dhabi to Singapore was also very empty but this time I didn’t distract myself with conversations and managed to score myself a 4 seater. Amazing. I was too shocked to say thanks but no thanks. So I drank it until the taste of toothpaste (let alone the alcohol that early) became unbearable. So very strange. I could definitely have done a glass of bubbles and orange juice, but not a Martini. Basically a curry fil...

Documenting my travels around South East Asia. A one night stop over – kota kinabalu. I slept pretty comfortably considering it was a bus and felt pretty rested by the time I got to Kota Kinabalu. That evening I met up with Walter and family and had a good night out reminiscing and catching up. Having to walk Walter home I jumped into bed and fell fast asleep. The next day was slow and relaxed. I walked around town for a bit and then got ready for my flight to Kuching. View from the other side of the road.

Documenting my travels around South East Asia. A dream come true – diving in sipadan. Arriving at Tawau airport after the rain had just fallen, it was humid, hazy and smelled of hot, wet tarmac. I was too excited. The further into the journey we got the more I realised I could have hitch hiked and kicked myself for having said yes to the driver so easily. I tried to reason with myself that sometimes time and effort cost the same. It wasn’t working not on this trip. I couldn’t decide what to eat, what to ...

Documenting my travels around South East Asia. Under the bodhi tree. kampot. Feeling slightly better I booked my bus ticket and couldn’t wait to get out of Phnom Penh. Next stop: Kampot. Franzi, G, Cynthia, Alejandro. Hiring bikes the next day, Damien, a German girl and myself headed to Kep to the famous crab markets and to visit the beach side town. I was glad I’d gone to Kep but was much happier to be staying in Kampot. I’m pretty sure Kep has the most amount of statues per km. Crab statue in kep.

Documenting my travels around South East Asia. A special riverside town – kuching. Arriving in Kuching at 5:15pm meant that there were no buses into the city and so I had to take a taxi. We dumped our bags and headed out to explore and find some dinner. I fell in love with the city straight away and was so happy to be there. The haze was still bad in Kuching but it was a beautiful city with a river running through it. We found a cute river side street stall and sat down for dinner. Fresh juices and lunch.

The next 5 days all meshed into one really with lots of tanning, swimming, book reading, card playing and general laziness. Waking up a little bleary eyed we packed our bags and called a taxi and made our way up to Ubud. I was sad to leave the tranquil Bingin Beach but was ready for the next adventure. Attempting to sokkie in the sand. One of the many beautiful sunsets. Predrinks. alex and joe. Take your pick of petrol.

Documenting my travels around South East Asia. A city after island living. melaka. Melaka is the most quaint town situated bottom left of Malaysia. Melaka used to be a massive trading port and therefore was occupied by many different nationalities, Portugese, Dutch, English and Japanese, making it a very unique place filled with history. It was lovely to be back in a city again after a month and a half of island life. I was up early to catch my flight to Tawau. Sipadan here I come! October 9, 2015. One t...
