I have just tested the SATA drives pulled from the deformed and scorched wreck of hindenburg, in a temporary replacement server, and after a quick fsck with NO errors, they MOUNTED and even appeared to have no crazy large blobs of missing files! A miracle, or something. Probably because they were better protected than the other servers at my datacenter which did not fare so well, but this much alone is a huge weight lifted off my mind.
