Saturday, February 21, 2015. Today, we drove to Starved Rock State Park. It's a little more than an hour from our house. The climb to the top of Starved Rock is normally a wide trail with wooden stairs. Today, it was a blanket of ice with a fence that we re-purposed as a handrail. There was some light snow during our hike, and we saw lots of differently-shaped snowflakes on our coats. For a hike to see a waterfall, it was suspiciously quiet. But when we finally arrived at the falls, we found out why!

Well, it isn't even Halloween yet, but there's a big hurricane coming through, so we made sure we did a weekend Halloween event in anticipation of the storm. We chose a good one, too: the "Trunk or Treat" party at our friends the Thomas' church. Since we were cooped up indoors for the storm, Mommy decided it was time for some pumpkin decorating and carving. We really had a blast! I even got to see the Jack-o-lantern lit up!

It was a hot, sunny day and there were plenty of ripe strawberries! What's this carton for? I thought strawberries were for eating, not for putting in silly blue containers.
