Becky's Biscuits: March 2014

Friday, March 28, 2014. Clumpy Brown Sugar and Bread - What a neat trick! I mistakenly left a bag of brown sugar open. For many days. And weeks. Needless to say, it turned into a clumpy, unusable,. Mess I knew the microwave trick - you know, nuke it for a little bit and it gets soft. But, that wasn't helping this time. I had already conceded my last batch of chocolate chip cookies to crunchy chunks to brown sugar. Thankfully they turned out okay in spite of my failed sugar. It appeared to be working!

Becky's Biscuits: June 2014

Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Instant (well almost) Soft Pretzels! The first thing you do is let the dough rise at room temperature overnight. Be prepared to find a huge, bloated, piece of dough in the morning. Punch it down and when you are ready to do something with it, it will be ready. I had C#1 smoosh out about 3 or 4 loaves. Of it into a large jellyroll like pan. I then used a cutting tool (a regular, sharp, knife would work) and sectioned it off into pieces about 3x1 inches in size. Links to this post.

Becky's Biscuits: September 2013

Monday, September 30, 2013. How to make awesome French Toast! Everyone knows that I like to do the price-match thing at Walmart. And very often I forget to bring a cooler with any ice packs. So instead of worrying about things spoiling in my car as I multi-task the crap out of a shopping trip, I buy a bag of Rhodes frozen white bread loaves. This stuff is awesome. I makes excellent pizza dough and excellent bread. THE PERFECT FRENCH TOAST! I am sure anyone that makes "real" homemade" bread could use this...

Becky's Biscuits: July 2014
http://beckysbiscuits.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 30, 2014. So yeah. I suck at updating my blog. I have a gazillion food pictures and recipes to blog about, but, alas, I refuse to dedicate any time to it. Until now. Maybe this will get the ball rolling, again. Don't count on it! Anyway, I was looking at a news site and it had a neat idea for cooking fish on the grill. You put slices of lemon underneath said meat and it won't stick. Welllll, I thought that "should" work for chicken, right? Salt and pepper for seasoning. Links to this post.

I have been making "new" stuff or should I say actually using my cookbooks - - - well one of them. I have made many a rice pudding in my day (I had a favorite recipe.) However, I now have a new fav. "Rum Raisin Rice Pudding" on page 108. And I found a link, so I don't even have to type it. Http:/ www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/saras-secrets/rum-raisin-rice-pudding-recipe/index.html. That's it for today.

Cut up the chicken into strips - approximately 2 - 3 per breast. Sprinkle all of the pieces with the garlic powder, chili powder and s/p. Wrap a piece of bacon around each piece. Roll each bacon/chicken piece through the brown sugar. Place in a casserole or whatever you use. Bake for 30-40 minutes and done. Last nights weat...

Becky's Biscuits: May 2013
http://beckysbiscuits.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 31, 2013. What do you do with icky bananas? It never fails that I buy some really nice bananas. I put these really nice bananas in C#1 and C#2's lunches and then they don't eat them. Have you ever seen a banana that has been left in a lunch pail all day long and. Sitting on an ice pack? The really icky one made it's way to the garbage. It had some questionable slits on the skin and looked hazardous to our health. Anyway, I had to figure out what to do with these hideous things and try not.
