Here are a selection of works exhibited in recent years. I like to work in series which helps me to experiment and refine the form of each piece while responding to the emerging aesthetics. I usually begin with wheel thrown elements, cylinders of different dimensions, grooved discs and dropped slabs. These will later be stretched and reshaped as needed. I like to work with the clay slightly stiffened to a point where it has some spring and resistance to my touch. Wide shallow vessel, W 38cm.

I live in Eltham, a leafy outer suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, with my partner, Adam Kirkland and daughters, Lucy and Kate. We relocated in 1989 from Adelaide, South Australia. My studio is situated at the rear boundary of the property at a distance from the house. I am fortunate to have additional entry to the property from the road behind which enables easy delivery of materials and access when loading the workshop trailer. Here is a brief Artist Statement. Which describes my approach to clay.

Is held twice each year at Warrandyte river reserve in early March and in Federation Square in central Melbourne in November. Show-casing the ceramic work of 40 ceramists from Melbourne and regional Victoria. As a result of an inquiry by a percussion student studying at the Victorian College of the Arts. As a parent contribution, I chose to involve myself in several art installation events during the time my two daughters attended our local schools, Eltham Primary School. Raku workshops

Raku firings have their origins in Japan where they are employed to create bowls for use in tea ceremonies. Western style Raku firings involve rapid firing cycles immediately followed by post firing treatments. As part of my arts practice I offer Raku Firing Workshops. For up to ten adult participants. Occasional Secondary School Workshops are possible by negotiation. I carry full public liability insurance. A Certificate of Currency will be supplied prior to the workshop date.
