Judy in the Dyes

Sunday, October 16, 2016. The Week That Was. It's been an eventful and fun fiber week. I learned the Honeycomb weave structure in my class at UNG. Here's a sample:. I love adding the metallic threads, and I find the varying weights of yarns to be a great textural addition. Here at home, I've just begun weaving a new bag using this fabulous yarn that was given to me! On the knitting front, I finished knitting my first Smooth Operator Sock, and cast on for my second. I love the yarn! It appears scrunched u...

Judy in the Dyes: Day 14 of my 200 Days

http://judyinthedyes.blogspot.com/2015/08/day-14-of-my-200-days.html

Wednesday, August 05, 2015. Day 14 of my 200 Days. I really love the dyeing results of this Furoshiki! It has just a hint of a violet-fuchsia to it, almost an iridescence. I feel like I'm truly getting a handle on this ice dyeing on silk. I had thought that perhaps the yellow and the blues would blend together in some places,. But like in many other ice and snow dyeing pieces,. The slowed process seems to keep the dyes from mixing,. Here's how the ice looked after I added the dye powder:.

Judy in the Dyes: Day 17: Surprises!

http://judyinthedyes.blogspot.com/2015/08/day-17-surprises.html

Saturday, August 08, 2015. After all of yesterday's excitement,. I was pretty worn out when we got home from the hospital,. So I did a bit of rolling and clamping,. Threw this piece of silk under some ice,. And covered it with two different nine year old. Dharma blended dye powders. I was tired, it was getting late, and I just wanted to play. I'm so amazed with the results! This Furoshiki only batched for about 15 hours,. Which is a short time compared to the 24 I've usually been giving my pieces.

Judy in the Dyes: Day 16: It's a BOY!

http://judyinthedyes.blogspot.com/2015/08/day-16-its-boy.html

Friday, August 07, 2015. Day 16: It's a BOY! Our third grandchild arrived bright and early at 1:40 AM,. Weighing 9lbs 15 oz and measuring 21". He's a big boy! I think his big brother and sister approve:. As do his parents:. In eager anticipation of our grandchild's arrival,. I pieced an extra block yesterday:. Please tell me that's not cheating! And here is Day 16's ice-dyed Furoshiki:. I think I told you that I was going to try something different, and I did:. Thanks for stopping by! Addicted to fiber a...

Judy in the Dyes: Day 15!

http://judyinthedyes.blogspot.com/2015/08/day-15.html

Thursday, August 06, 2015. I love my Day 15 Furoshiki. It's quite similar to Day 14, but has a bit more yellow,. And several pops of turquoise which, sadly didn't show up in this image. I tried something entirely different with today's dyeing -. So I hope you'll come back to visit tomorrow. And I hope we all are not disappointed in the results! I am introducing some greens into Maggie's quilt. The blocks were getting a bit too bland for me. Thanks for stopping by. Peace to you and yours.

Judy in the Dyes: A Banner Month

http://judyinthedyes.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-banner-month.html

Tuesday, May 12, 2015. I've always been intrigued with Pentecost Sunday,. Especially how some churches go all out with wonderful banners. Being a member of the Creative Expression committee. At our church, I proposed that as a parish-wide activity. We dye banners and carry them into the Nave on Pentecost Sunday. After much discussion, it was decided that we needed to ease on into this. Rather 'risky' business, and that perhaps. Simply hanging red banners from the pillars in the Nave. In little breezes,.

Summertime Impressions | Tangerine Key

https://tangerinekey.wordpress.com/2015/07/01/summertime-impressions

July 1, 2015 in Design. Summer impressions. Hot. Humid. Afternoon thunderstorms. Baby ducks. One of the mother ducks started out with 14 ducks. The other had 4 babies. I don’t know how many are surviving but there are still many babies swimming around the pond and hunting for food. Here is a photo of my first viewing of the swimming babies. And yes there is another reason I have babies on my mind. My son and beautiful daughter in law are one day away from the due date. I am so excited. A Stitch in Dye.

Fun, Fabric and Food. June 4, 2015 in cooking. I have never before been away so long from my blog. Yes, I have been very busy. I did think of a variety of things to share, but somehow the longer I waited to write, the harder it got. I went to the Florida SAQA. Conference (Studio Art Quilt Associates) and had a great time meeting other art quilters. There were art flags running over the bridge between the parking area and the buildings at FIT where the conference was held. A Stitch in Dye. And Sew it Goes.

August 11, 2015 in Dyeing/Printing on Fabric. You might think virtual worlds are about perfection, about having fun and being in the perfect environment in the perfect youthful condition. But even there things go awry. I can’t wait for Thursday as who know what will be going on and if I will be able to post anything then, so let’s just call this one Throwback Tuesday. In case you aren’t sure, I am on the far left. I can’t wait until I meet this sweetest newest member of the family. A Stitch in Dye. Augus...
