Judy's Bakery of Johnson City. Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Want salt risen bread? A number of customers have asked me for this bread. I did try to make it, after a wonderful woman from Greeneville shared her grandmother's recipe from probably 1850. It's very tricky to make, and very time/labor . Consuming. The starter could fail at any point. I am guessing it's no longer made because people lost money making it for sale. The biggest problem, though, is it made my kitchen stink for months after making it!

I just took these rolls, made from my highly requested Norwegian Sweet Bread recipe, out of the oven this afternoon (Nov 1). They are my sweet roll dough, sweetened with honey and sugar, and have raisins, cardomom, anise, almond icing, and slivered almonds. The What's Poppin - Popcorn and Homemade Candy. Kiosk at The Mall of Johnson City is selling them at their booth this week.
