No one goes to the farm or to the river to fish on sunday in Juju Rock. It baffles me that this predominantly and almost exclusive Islamic settlement would observe sunday as a day of rest. Does this have anything to do with their contact with christianity? Local shops are locked. The river spirits are also at rest from the troubles of fishermen on sunday.

The entire hand pump and its nozzle had be beseeched by a sea of fat frogs taking advantage of the absence of humans to relish in the wetness of the soil around the hand pump……. I almost threw up as they scampered away hopping in different directions as I approached. As I walked back, I wondered if the frogs in Juju Rock were poisonous…. Oh! Sunday in Juju Rock.
