Danger Kitten Bakes: March 2010
http://dangerkittenbakes.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Baking.and a few of my other favorite things. Saturday, March 13, 2010. Ghostbusters Cupcakes (and Not Scary Cookie Favors). Who ya gonna call? Meif your child is having a back-to-the-80s Ghostbusters party. Or if you are hosting a 2010 bridal shower and the bride's favorite color is "spring" green. As in, neon. Green. Trees and stuff, right? Seriously, though, in my defense, the cupcakes matched the plates and napkins perfectly. I'm not kidding. Check out the picture below. 2 tsp baking powder. Preheat ...

Danger Kitten Bakes: Mint Chocolate Devil's Food Cake for My Sweetheart's Birthday, and a Host of Variations
http://dangerkittenbakes.blogspot.com/2011/04/mint-chocolate-devils-food-cake-for-my.html
Baking.and a few of my other favorite things. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Mint Chocolate Devil's Food Cake for My Sweetheart's Birthday, and a Host of Variations. Chocolate lovers will delight in this layer cake made of three different chocolate components, and all will love how easy the cake is to make. This cake is delicious, of course, but it has so many other phenomenal things going for it that I felt I had to tell you about them. Make it ahead of time so the icing has time to set? The whipped ganache ca...

Danger Kitten Bakes: August 2011
http://dangerkittenbakes.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Baking.and a few of my other favorite things. Monday, August 15, 2011. Hard Rain Peach Galette with Whole Wheat Pastry Crust. Last year I posted an apple galette from Claire Ptak, a recipe I found in Alice Waters' In The Green Kitchen. The post can be found here. This year I was inspired to make this peach galette (from the same recipe, using one of Ms. Claire's recommended variations for stone fruit instead of apples). After missing the Collinsville Farmers Market. Makes enough for 2 12-inch tarts).

Danger Kitten Bakes: October 2010
http://dangerkittenbakes.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Baking.and a few of my other favorite things. Thursday, October 14, 2010. Zucchini, Carrot, and Cranberry "Bridge" Muffins from SoNo Bakery. I call these muffins "bridge" muffins because they very perfectly moved me from that last end-of-summer zucchini that had been sitting in my refrigerator to autumnal cranberries and carrots. The sweet, golden-hued orbs are studded with tart cranberries, and the zucchini and carrot add additional texture and moisture. S and I went last winter to the SoNo Bakery.

Danger Kitten Bakes: February 2011
http://dangerkittenbakes.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Baking.and a few of my other favorite things. Sunday, February 20, 2011. The Butterscotch Sauce Recipe and the Art of Sharing. Great Aunt Ethel’s Butterscotch Sauce. As the name hints, this recipe comes from Margie’s great aunt Ethel. When Margie first poured this sauce on some vanilla ice cream for Steve and me, I fell in love instantly. The sauce is thick and it solidifies when it hits the cold ice cream so that when the sauce enters your mouth it is ever so slightly crunchy. 1 ¼ c brown sugar. A new b...

Danger Kitten Bakes: Rose's Apple Sour Cream Crumb Cake
http://dangerkittenbakes.blogspot.com/2011/02/roses-apple-sour-cream-crumb-cake.html
Baking.and a few of my other favorite things. Sunday, February 6, 2011. Rose's Apple Sour Cream Crumb Cake. It's also delicious with jam in the center instead of or along with the apples- I like it with blueberry. Just spread the jam on top of the apples or on top of the batter if using it alone, top with the remaining batter, and there you go. Apple-Cinnamon Crumb Coffee Cake. 1 cup walnut halves. 1/3 cup light brown sugar, preferably Muscovado. 2 T granulated sugar. 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon. 2 tsp lemon juice.

Baking.and a few of my other favorite things. Thursday, July 1, 2010. Chocolate Walnut Patriotism Bars. That's why I'm so crazy- I'm part of a loud, Italian family! I'm not the only one! And I can buy things I really don't need and claim the rational part of my brain was momentarily shut down by the holiday urge to consume, consume, consume, when my husband asks why in the world we have ten pounds of potatoes or 50 cookie tins (for the 1300 Christmas cookies I made- duh). Otherwise known as Supremes).

Danger Kitten Bakes: November 2010
http://dangerkittenbakes.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Baking.and a few of my other favorite things. Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Vanilla Sour Cream Butter Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting from Rose Levy Beranbaum. This is my favorite vanilla cupcake recipe, and I especially love the addition of sour cream. The frosting is light and fluffy- if you are looking for a deeply chocolatey icing, look elsewhere- made of butter, egg whites, and sugar. The white nonpareils add a bit of whimsy to this cupcake made for Reka's birthday. 2/3 cup sour cream.
