Million Things To Be: Live the dream
http://1000000things2b.blogspot.com/2011/04/live-dream.html
Million Things To Be. Sing out and be free. Tuesday, April 12, 2011. In about two months I will head to orientation to begin becoming a nurse. While distracting myself at one of what was to be a few not-so-awesome jobs. I recall thinking to myself "whoa, that's what I want to do. like, for real". For a long time, nagging voices in my head convinced me that I could never become a UCSF-trained nurse practitioner because: I. I got that C in 9th grade biology (that's still true), had a fun /. Oh yeah, there ...

Million Things To Be: April 2011

Million Things To Be. Sing out and be free. Wednesday, April 13, 2011. So, today going to work, five minutes into my commute I could tell I was going to have one of those I hate everyone. Transit commute days. Come on, people, learn how to act. If you've never ridden MUNI, get ready. If you're currently waiting for MUNI, um, good luck. In any case, it reminded me of one thing I'm really excited for about going to UCSF for, which is totally unrelated to the actual top-notch learning. While distracting mys...

Million Things To Be: Sticker Shock
http://1000000things2b.blogspot.com/2011/05/sticker-shock.html
Million Things To Be. Sing out and be free. Thursday, May 5, 2011. This past weekend was sunny-warm in SF, the kind of weather that people who don't live in California think we have all the time (if you don't live in the Bay Area, in sum, it's foggy and cool mostly. Some people I know spent the day picnicking, at the beach, at the park or otherwise outside. I got CPR certified. It really is nothing to complain about. The class seemed like one of those discount, not-too-serious formalities. With that extr...

IBCLC, Doula, Nursing Student, and future CNM. April 13, 2011 by inoakpark. After my last Casa post things got a whole hell of a lot busier there and I apparently dropped off the face of the earth for a couple of years. Sorry about that! As a short “catch-up” to what’s happened since then:. Before I start the program in June I will make an effort to post some info about the application process since I know I scoured the internet looking for information when I was in the weeds of essay writing. I know I&#...

BS of the Day: Picture Time!
http://bsoftheday.blogspot.com/2011/01/picture-time.html
BS of the Day. A cynical girl living in a small town tells it how really it is. Sunday, January 9, 2011. I thought I would take a break from deep, sometimes depressing posts to share some pictures! These pictures were taken in Illinois on a trip to this amazing little store called Pasquesi. They had a ton of beautiful birdhouses that I couldn't help snapping a few pictures of. For my birthday, Josh had flowers delivered and they were so beautiful! I have a ton of opinions and I love to share them with ev...

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Friday, August 12, 2011. New, new, new. Everything is new. I'm getting inundated with emails from school for stuff I need for my Master's degree. I started a new job. I work days, mids, whatever I want and make a little more money. I'm in a new ED. New doctors. New system. New everything. A little overwhelming but it's going okay. Reminding myself to take a timeout to breathe. Also in August w...

One woman leaves her favorite river career in the Sierras to embark upon another favorite: fixing broken people. Sunday, May 9, 2010. I mean seriously, come on. There are nights (actually, I guess mornings) when I leave the ER and I wonder if people show up just to fuck with the nurses. That's not including patient's families. Let's not forget the MDs who sometimes lose their cool, because even though we're part of the healthcare team, we're still "just a nurse" to some of them. And yet, most of the time...
