Maker of Handwoven Textiles from Scotland. Julia at the loom. Weaver’s cottages in Fife. Scotland has a great textile heritage spanning over many hundreds of years. In 1838 there were 500 hand looms registered in the parish of Fife, weaving linen cloth. Small weaver’s cottages nestled into the hillsides and village streets, where the sound of clicking could be heard as the shafts changed and the loom beat to a rhythm. If you listen carefully you can hear it again………. Julia walking in the Perthshire hills.

Maker of Handwoven Textiles from Scotland. Row of Fife weaver’s cottages (built in the 1780s). In 1838 more than 500 hand looms were registered in Fife, weaving linen cloth. Small weaver’s cottages were built with a weaving shed (or loom room) adjacent. I live and work in one of these today.
