Julia's freaky Science Blog: May 2011

Julia's freaky Science Blog. Tuesday, May 17, 2011. What did you notice about the phases of the moon? I learned that depending on which angle the sun hits the moon, it is visible to us on earth in different ways. We only see the part of the moon illuminated by the sun. There are 8 phases of the moon, the main ones being full moon, first quarter, full moon, and third quarter. Below is a picture I drew of what I learned from this activity:. Why do we see different parts of the moon each night? When it is w...

Julia's freaky Science Blog. Monday, February 28, 2011. My Family Earthquake Safety Plan. Some things to pay attention to and not to do during an earthquake are:. Don't stand next to the edge of a building, edges tend to collapse first. Try to stand in the top floor of building; that way, if the floors start falling you'll be on top. Try to stand somewhere where you're protected- such as under a bed, under a desk, or under doors- these are very firmly attached to the building. Both my parents go undernea...

David's Science blog: Moon Phases

http://davidsscienceblogishungry.blogspot.com/2011/05/moon-phases.html

There was an error in this gadget. I noticed that the parts of the moon change when the position it is to the sun changes, because before I always thought that part of the moon is blocked because there was a meteorite blocking it. We see different parts of the moon each nght because we can only see the moon when the sunlight is reflecting off it. So as the moon orbits the earth, the sunlight hits less or more of the moon, so we sometimes see a lot of the moon and sometimes we don't.

David's Science blog: June 2011

There was an error in this gadget. Guiding Question: What are the factors that affect the appearance of impact craters? How do scientists use craters to tell the relative age of them. Hypothesis: I think that the weight and temperature will affect the appearance of the crater. The black hole is sucking in a large amount of gas and jetting it out again. If the black hole in the milky way started, that is also what it would do, except that the jet of gas it is expelling would be 40 times stronger than ...

Monica's Science Spot: Cash In Exchange For Good Grades? Hmm . . .

http://monicasscienceblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/cash-in-exchange-for-good-grades-hmm.html

Sunday, November 27, 2011. Cash In Exchange For Good Grades? Have some school decided to give cash to do well in tests? December 11, 2011 at 4:13 AM. As a teacher, for every test that I have to take for my teacher certification, I pay at least 75$. Isnt that crazy? You are paying to put yourself through torture! I am not sure that I agree with paying students to do well. It should be something they want to do well, right? Its for their own future. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

David's Science blog: Food Irradiation

http://davidsscienceblogishungry.blogspot.com/2011/04/food-irradiation.html

There was an error in this gadget. In class we had a debate (2 people arguing for each opinion) about whether or not irradiated food was a good or bad thing. Tristan and I were were arguing for how it was good (pros), and Blaise and Julia were arguing to get rid of it (cons). In the end Cons won and our final conclusion was that:. Pros and Cons of food irradiation:. My thinking didn't really change through the debate because I still don't really care if the food is irradiated or not. I think the deba...

To determine how changing amplitude and frequency can change how a sound is perceived. http://lillasciencespot.blogspot.com/2011/05/food-irradiation.html

This is a blog for Science Class. I will put most of the things I will do here. Tuesday, May 10, 2011. During class we talked about food i rradiation. We were. In partners to research about the cons and pros of food irradiation. Monica, Teodora and I were researching about the pros, Roy and Aleksaj were researching about the cons of food. Irradiation makes food safer to eat, and also could stay fresh for longer, but it can kill many healthy vitamins, like vitamins. Irradiation can only be used on a limit...

Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Herby Pork Chops - 11/22/11. For my first post I am having for dinner my Herby Pork Chops with Mashed Sweet Potatoes and Peas. My hubby Michael just had his wisdom teeth out so I made him some Mashed Sweet Potatoes. I made so much! They call themselves an online farmer's market. The peas are just the frozen kind from Trader Joe's with a little organic butter. It is so hard to buy organic but I always buy organic milk, butter, and eggs. I can taste the difference.

2013-04-06 @ 16:46:00 Vardag. When the snow slowly melts. I want spring now. Foto: j...

Education in the Public Eye | A blog exploring media coverage of education in the United States

Education in the Public Eye. A blog exploring media coverage of education in the United States. December 10, 2009. The concept of sensationalism and the way it manifests itself in the media have been discussed and characterized in Mass Media lecture many times. As sensational news stories often attract the most viewers while keeping people entertained, they garner much more attention and media coverage than they might deserve based on political significance and merit alone. The ‘Salahi’ incident. Unveils...
