Julia's Oasis

A little bit of a lot of things. Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Being Catholic (still) wears me out. I'm not going to post the whole detail of what happened at church last Friday, not least because I feel like at least half of the words on this blog are the narrative of my ongoing existential crisis with the Catholic Church, and I'm not sure there's much more to say. So I'll just leave it at this: it was horrible. I was (am) angry. And my religion drives me crazy. Thursday, November 8, 2012. I feel like lif...

Julia's Oasis: October 2012

http://juliasoasis.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

A little bit of a lot of things. Thursday, October 4, 2012. How I spent my 30th birthday. I turned 30 yesterday. (! Also yesterday, the first presidential debate of the 2012 election was held at the University of Denver. Going to the debate would have been an amazing birthday gift, but as far as I can tell only invited guests and DU students got to go. Here's how my day went instead. Brian sent me to work with a cake for the office:. So we had my sister and her boyfriend over to watch the debate, and a f...

Julia's Oasis: February 2012

http://juliasoasis.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

A little bit of a lot of things. Wednesday, February 22, 2012. It has been, by all accounts, a mild winter. But that hasn't deterred my intense longing for summer. It's nearing the end of February, and the days are getting longer. The sun stays up for my whole drive home now. Hope is that lingering sunshine! This is the current desktop background on my work computer:. Thursday, February 16, 2012. I'm sitting in the airport waiting to board a flight to Portland. I'm so excited! I also love seeing Alex!

Julia's Oasis: January 2012

http://juliasoasis.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

A little bit of a lot of things. Monday, January 30, 2012. My favorite way to round up a year is to look back at where I've gone. I thought 2011 was going to be a slow travel year, what with our ski passes and my office's no leave during legislative session policy. But then I volunteered to help out with some legislative trips, so I've been all over Colorado now. Plus some biggies in the summer. Always great to enjoy this beautiful world. January, February, March, and even April. I took my first of three...

Christopher Jackson: May 2008

http://cmljackson.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 25, 2008. In cae you were wondering,. Was a really good show that was cancelled way too early. I know the idea of a sci-fi/Western tv series sounds a little odd, but I found it really watchable. I was watching. Through Netflix, and even though I knew the thing only had 14 episodes, I still didn't realize I was watching the last episode until I had finished and tried watching the next one. So I am le sad. At least they made a movie. Links to this post. Thursday, May 8, 2008. Links to this post.

Christopher Jackson: January 2011

http://cmljackson.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 29, 2011. I Don't Want to Read Crim Pro/Triumphant Return? I randomly clicked on the link to this blog today and realized that it's been over a year since I've posted- that's more than a little sad. I could say that I'll be writing here more frequently, but I've made similar promises before. Still, since I'm trying to avoid my reading again, how about an update? I'm graduating in May! I'm almost done being editor-in-chief of the law review! The last year has been quite an adventure, and...

Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Writing, Clerking, Commuting. It's been so long since I've done anything with this blog, I'm not sure whether anyone reads it anymore. But, just in case someone out there is interested, here we go:. First up in exciting news, an essay that I wrote on the Supreme Court's recent decision in J.D.B. v. North Carolina. A case about Miranda. Rights) was published by MLR. Check it out here. That about covers it, I think. I'll try to post more updates? We'll see how it goes. Travel t...

Kennedy’s LA Visit | Simple Pleasures

https://sarahkennedy33.wordpress.com/2009/09/10/kennedys-la-visit

Beauty, Joy, Laughter, Tears, Friends, Family. September 10, 2009. Kennedy’s LA Visit. This past week Chuck’s parents were here in town visiting us. We spend four busy days showing them all kinds of sites around LA! Here are a few of the spots we visited! Saturday we went to the Nixon Library, which was a great museum. Because he was president during a lot of the space stuff there was a ton of historical space memorabilia. The library is also the burial space for both President Nixon and his wife. Looks ...

Christopher Jackson: June 2008

http://cmljackson.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 16, 2008. I just bought my season tickets for Michigan football next year. I will say that it'll be awfully nice to be able to cheer on a team that isn't. Terrible (anyone remember a certain homecoming game against Yale where we fumbled the ball at the 5 yard line when a simple field goal would have won us the game? Because I do.). I am a little sad that both the Notre Dame and Ohio State games are away, but I'm still eagerly awaiting a legitimate college football experience.

Friday, August 7, 2009. Almost Time to Move Again. In less than a week I'll be heading back up to Michigan. Saturday, August 29, 2009. I Don't Want to Read Jurisdiction. Since I'm trying to avoid doing my class reading and I finally have a little free time after a very hectic week and a half, I thought it would be a good time to post. Updates on life:. Successfully visited Nashville, Indianapolis, Plymouth and Ann Arbor and got both Jennifer and my things moved in. I think that touches all the highlights. Time to get back to that reading. Saying Goodbye | Simple Pleasures

https://sarahkennedy33.wordpress.com/2009/08/18/saying-goodbye

Beauty, Joy, Laughter, Tears, Friends, Family. August 18, 2009. This was Grandma, this was where she was the happiest, these are the foods and activities that brought her the most joy. So we followed her directions and threw one heck of a party! It was where she was happiest, on her beach, surrounded by her family. So we took her ashes with us and recreated the scene for her on Saturday. The A-Z’s of Nancy Leaf Weis, Professional Volunteer. A–Assistance League, charter member and president. G–Girl ...

not so haute couture

Not so haute couture. Saturday, 16 July 2011. Messed it up. again. Remember my floral Crescent Skirt? The one I forgot to make the adjustment the muslin had told me to do? Well, I “fixed” it. Meaning I tried to, messed it up, kind of…. I had trouble taking in the sides with all the twill tape and stuff that’s there. The lower ends of the waistband do stick out a bit now. It’s not that bad, I used the print upside down anyway…. Sunday, 10 July 2011. Or maybe a bucket hat work better on me anyway? Unfortun...

Julia's Occupations

Thursday, January 3, 2013. In November I went down to San Diego with Karen and Whitney and did the Color Run. We did more dancing and walking than running but it was a blast. I'm planning on doing another one in LA in March 2013. Together for the first time in 6 years. Naomi and her favorite aunt. So here's to making 2013 a great year and working on all my goals/resolutions which are too boring and numerous to mention here. Happy New Year! Monday, February 20, 2012. Good luck 2012 garden! Christmas pictu...
