Swayambhunath – The Monkey Temple. April 21, 2013. Around a 20 minute taxi ride out of central Thamel, Kathmandu, is this lovely temple which is rampant with monkeys. Aware that they carry the dangerous rabies virus, and that I had opted not to have the expensive and painful vaccine, I kept my distance and used my telephoto lens! HIV is running rife through much of Africa and a bunch of enthusiastic conscientious medical students from UWA decided it was time to step up and help out. Hence Red Party – a fundraising party that literally paints the town red to promote HIV/AIDs awareness and generate funds for HIV programs in southern Africa. I was lucky enough to help document this event. Many thanks to Red Party Perth 2012 for this inspiring event.
