http://juliehalpern.blogspot.com/2014/01/im-back.html
Julie Halpern's Blog of Wonder. Visit with the YA and children's author as she spins fascinating yarns about daily life. Monday, January 20, 2014. Did anyone notice I was gone? I kind of hate them. Anywho, since I received a really cool email from a guy who recently read The F-It List. I thought it was time for me to post Alex's horror movie list that I promised 700 years ago. Alex, for those who do not know, is the main character in The F-It List. Of all of the horror movies I included in the book:.

Julie Halpern's Blog of Wonder. Visit with the YA and children's author as she spins fascinating yarns about daily life. Wednesday, December 18, 2013. The End of the Edits. I told you I was going to blog about some of the final passes of The F-It L. This is what a manuscript looks like when I get it back from the copy editor. Our conversations are usually hilarious and nitpicky, and I love them. Here is a list of some of the things I flagged in The F-It List. One of the funniest (to me) things was that s...

Julie Halpern's Blog of Wonder. Visit with the YA and children's author as she spins fascinating yarns about daily life. Monday, August 26, 2013. Me and a Ke$ha Concert. Last week my friend Katie and I journeyed to Milwaukee for a Ke$ha concert. It was something I have wanted to do for a while now (one of my most visited blog posts is an oldie about my love for Ke$ha. That's me with my Pump in Style breast pump (the actual name of the pump, hilariously) and a bag full of stuff. I had to be prepared.

Julie Halpern's Blog of Wonder. Visit with the YA and children's author as she spins fascinating yarns about daily life. Friday, September 27, 2013. F-It List Friday: Weepies. In today's edition of F-It List Friday, I'd like to disccuss the fear of reading sad books. I am guilty of this fear. I cry enough with a newborn baby and two hours of sleep per night; why would I want to read a book that makes me cry? So why write a book about a teenager with cancer? Well, there's a long story about the why. I'd l...

Julie Halpern's Blog of Wonder. Visit with the YA and children's author as she spins fascinating yarns about daily life. Monday, November 25, 2013. I always find it really interesting to learn about book covers that got away and the design process that goes into creating and selecting book covers. That's why I interviewed The F-It List's talented designer, April Ward! What is your job title, and what are your job responsibilities? How did you come to this position? Do you take notes along the way? I've d...

Random thoughts of a children's writer/college instructor/mama (and not necessarily in that order). Laquo; Geeking Out on Christmas. My Christmas Wish Come True…. December 7, 2011 by glowbuggirl. Ever since I’ve lived in an apartment (more than ten years now), I’ve always wanted a real Christmas tree, but never had one. They just seemed too impractical or something, and besides, Josh and I were usually at our family’s homes for the holidays, so what was the point? A Very She and Him Christmas (beautiful!
Uttering Nonsense: The Feasibility of Romance in Mental Institutions
http://crazybrainedrena.blogspot.com/2011/03/feasibility-of-romance-in-mental.html
Musings, rantings, and stuff. Saturday, March 19, 2011. The Feasibility of Romance in Mental Institutions. Teen mental hospital romance is kind of becoming a genre. And, as formulaic as they kind of are, I like them. (More than, say, Sarah Dessen's brand of formulaic-ness.) Examples:. It's Kind of a Funny Story. Ned Vizzini (possibly started this whole thing). The first and last are arguably more serious, and the second is the funniest ipso facto the best (did I even use that correctly? And that it's rel...

Dare to Look Inside Your Heart. At one time in our life we may have heard those soul whispers. That quiet voice. Maybe as a kid when innocently playing and day dreaming about ‘what we wanted to be when we grew up.’ Or, when we played ‘make believe’. What choices might we make? What might we do differently if we could ‘do it over again? What whispers keep nagging you? Keep lurking in the corner of your mind? What if onlys keep haunting you? If you need help with day dreaming, you can play the What if game...
