Sierra Leone, here I come

Sierra Leone, here I come. Wednesday, January 6, 2010. Reflections on Emmanuel and Sierra Leone. Thanks again to all those who have joined me on this blog, encouraged me, prayed for me, and listened to me share over coffee. Thanks also to the Harrells and Sassenbergs for hosting us for half of December! Here's a picture of us (minus Jan) outside a pizza place on our last night in Sierra Leone. Notice how Talita is holding Keyara's head in place for the picture :-) Great job Talita! A couple parting shots...

http://www.julieinsierraleone.blogspot.com/2009/12/monday-in-freetown.html

Sierra Leone, here I come. Monday, December 7, 2009. Sunday and Monday in Freetown. We started the day by attending church, which is out in a neighboring village. It was a joy to spend the morning with them and they all welcomed the "twins". :-) Afterwards, we headed to lunch at a Lebanese restaurant and then rested at the house. Here is a beautiful picture of the landscape (notice the terracing! Along the way to church; the second picture is of Keyara attempting to walk in Lori's shoes. Sitting in an in...

Many friends have asked me this question and my answer is sim...

Although the Word Made Flesh team serves primarily in the Freetown/Kroo Bay area, one of their staff members grew up in a small village northeast of Freetown and offered to tour us around. We were very thankful for Aunty Sally's time! Farmers use both manure and synthetic f...

Random Ramblings of a Running Family. Early in June we had an afternoon of tower building/knocking over. Always an adventure in who can hog the most blocks and who can knock over the towers fastest. I can stack myself! It’s been great evening weather for some “porching”! As June has gone on:. 8221; and “No! Both kids ...

Chloe and I ran a race a couple of weeks ago. I ran the Diva Dash 5K and she ran the Lil’ Princess race. She was sooooo excited for MANY days prior. We took a few moments after school the other day to “stop and smell the roses” so to speak.Miles is still learning the art of smelling flowers versus eating them. Devon Crosby Helms – Fast Foodie.
