Monday, June 29, 2009. The Beginning of the End. I don't know about everyone else, but I cannot believe that June is almost over! Which means I have two months to figure out what to do with my life - at least for the next year of it. Yikes! Thursday, July 30, 2009. On Tuesday we had our school readiness distribution, so this was the day that all of the families came to pick up their backpacks, goodies, and assorted clothing. Monday, July 27, 2009. Today was my exit luncheon. There are five of us long-term volunteers who will be leaving in the next month, so the volunteer department had a short ceremony to celebrate our time and our service here in Appalachia. Thursday, February 26, 2009. On the Eve of Graduation. At this time tomorrow evening, I will be in the middle of graduation. Yikes! There is still so much to do, but luckily, I think I will survive - and hopefully, graduation will go well.I found myself wondering why I ever thought I could handle planning graduation (and why anyone ever agreed to let me plan it when I have no idea what I am doing! Regardless of how qualified I am to plan this event, I am in charge of it, and at least it will soon be over.

Family Advocacy coordinates two major outreach events - Christmas Boxes and School Readiness - while also helping with emergency home improvements, getting supplies/clothes to those in need, and helping to pay bills for participants.
