Julie's Jacobean Jacket: Wow, this is a short blog...

http://juliesjacobean.blogspot.com/2006/10/wow-this-is-short-blog.html

Jacket from the early 1600s.A quick and dirty 1 month project. Only Three Nights Left? The Perfect Hour Glass? By Jove, I Think Ive Got It! What, Another Diary? Monday, October 02, 2006. Wow, this is a short blog. From start to finish, this whole project is under 10 posts? I'm either sewing faster or blogging slower. Mayhaps a combo? In any case, Beth. It was wonderful getting to know the Her Majesty's Royal Hounds. Does this dress make my butt look big? Well, that's the point, isn't it? And a last bit o...

Julie's Jacobean Jacket: Hardcore Head Coverings

http://juliesjacobean.blogspot.com/2006/09/hardcore-head-coverings.html

Jacket from the early 1600s.A quick and dirty 1 month project. What, Another Diary? Friday, September 15, 2006. Not really.possibly I just wanted to put the word "hardcore" into a blogpost and see how many stray hits I get as a result. ;) Not my idea.I'm just influencable. Anyway, I've been working on a hat, even though I want a different head covering for this costume (one like Maragaret Laton's. Posted by Julebug 6:06 AM. Oh I know the picture you're talking about! The hat is looking spiffy. And I'...

Julie's Jacobean Jacket: The Perfect Hour Glass?

http://juliesjacobean.blogspot.com/2006/09/perfect-hour-glass.html

Jacket from the early 1600s.A quick and dirty 1 month project. By Jove, I Think Ive Got It! What, Another Diary? Friday, September 22, 2006. The Perfect Hour Glass? Cuz with a farthingale on the bottom and a hat shaped like this on top, that's what I'll be, right? I think the brim covering fabric could be smoother, and I really think the headhole shrunk a bit during construction, cuz it really, um, hugs my head. But its wearable, and despite little probs, I like the overall look. Posted by Julebug 7:08 AM.

Julie's Jacobean Jacket: Inside Out

http://juliesjacobean.blogspot.com/2006/09/inside-out.html

Jacket from the early 1600s.A quick and dirty 1 month project. What, Another Diary? Sunday, September 03, 2006. Underthings first, yes? I've been dying to make a farthingale since I tried on Beth's. She swore to me that it was a one day project, so I figured a good way to start my labor day weekend, right? Who knew 1.5 inches could make such a big difference? I didn't factor in that it'd be multipled by six in the end- oopsie! Posted by Julebug 9:39 AM. It looks just right to me. For reference, my bo...

Beth's dress: October 2006

http://bethsdress.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

My 16th century clothing projects. Saturday, October 28, 2006. I see london. and possibly france. The Queen Elizabeth effigy corset, courtesy of the Tudor Tailor. (Have I mentioned how much I love that book? And that I'm within a size of the example patterns? Can I get a "huzzah"? And the back view. I do love the "racer" style straps, as they are assuredly staying put on the shoulders. Very nice that. Next up: a warm wool kirtle in olive. Making a total three green dresses. No, I'm not in a rut. Mentione...

Julie's Jottings

Monday, 28 July 2014. Hi, I'm Julie! You might remember me, although it has been an entire year since my last post, so then again maybe not. ;-). I've really been aching to get back into blogging for a bit now, but when I realised that the one year anniversary of my last post was coming up fast, I decided to wait just that little bit longer. I like symmetry and patterns in things, what can I say? And what a year it's been! Labels: blast from the past. Sunday, 28 July 2013. My 30 before 30: July Update.

Julie in Japan

I find myself on the Pacific rim of fire! Wednesday, 7 May 2008. So much to remember, fish for dinner; my hairdresser; Koson; sweet sumo wrestlers; parents and children and their last presentation a kiwi puppet show. Monday, 10 December 2007. Tuesday, 4 December 2007. The news from Japan. A couple of articles that have caught my eye lately. Slipping 11 ranks from a year ago, Japan took 91st place in terms of gender equality. Japans schools flunking at global level. And tuna's too, now numbered. And on a ...
