Saturday, July 2, 2011. Today, I'm looking out the window and watching the rain pour down while sun shines brightly. I was reminded of an old saying I heard from the time I was young that rain on a sunny day meant the devil was beating his wife. After a little bit of googling, I found that there are lots of names for this phenomenon. a monkey's wedding, a jackal's wedding, the devil's wedding, rats getting married, foxes getting married, bears getting married, or a monkey's birthday.

Sunday, September 1, 2013. Small cypress tree on the north shore of the lake. We spent the Labor Day holiday weekend at Florala State Park. In Florala, Ala. Florala State Park is situated around Lake Jackson.The lake straddles the Florida-Alabama state line (Flor-Ala) in southern Covington County. The lake was named for Gen. Andrew Jackson, who supposedly camped at the lake with his soldiers in 1818. The campground and surrounding lakeshore are lined with stately cypress trees dripping with Spanish moss.

Friday, February 1, 2013. Put in more than five hours tonight. Finished three of the walls and moved the lower cabinets back into their original position. Round windows are HARD! Seriously contemplating sanding and painting the floor. Then adding a good coat of polyurethane. Buy a rug for the living area. Just don't think we're up to laminate floors or stretching vinyl.
