sam-plings: November 2008
http://sam-plings.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2008. Plus, we've won the last two against the Ducks, so they were kind of due. It looked like the extra week to prepare really helped, given the way they picked apart our defense. And that was no coincidence. The Ducks did not want to lose to us three straight years. Alas, I'll end with a philosophical question. Is there anything else in life comparable to sports, in that it matters so much (to some people at least), but over which you have no control whatsoever? My friend from the ...

Work in progress...: September 2008
http://thebotts.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Trying out the blog thing. I am HORRIBLE at keeping in touch even though my friends are scattered around the world; maybe I will keep up with this blog someday. I'm not too optimistic. Saturday, 27 September 2008. After my near-death experience (yes, I am exaggerating. Just go along with it), I spent over 8 hours getting home from Gatwick. Airport (normally the trip should take about 2 1/2 hours). So that was fun. And very British. I forgot how " British. Saturday, 6 September 2008. 1: Severe back sun bu...

Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Do I start all sentimental and get all teary-eyed about how much I love words, language, and stories, and hope they pick up on my enthusiasm? Or do I go in there like a cold practitioner? Why is something good or bad? Does goodness or badness even matter? I love how smart you are, and yet you don't know that it's simply called a "swing". I bet you were great today. Enjoy ;). January 15, 2009 at 6:16 PM. You're so intellectual. love it. can i see your syllabus?

Violet & Gray: Easy Peasy
http://violetandgray.blogspot.com/2013/12/easy-peasy.html
Sunday, December 29, 2013. This little boy, who came into our lives so unexpectedly, is patient, quiet, funny, and so very easy. He bumbles around looking for things to do, ways to entertain himself. He keeps himself happy and is amused by what is happening around him. He eats like a horse. He could eat a horse. He eats more than his brother and sister combined, and sometimes the leftovers from their plates too. He doesn't like the word "no," and. Crumbles into a million pieces when we have to be stern.

Saturday, March 28, 2009. That's etymology, not entymology. So all my writing efforts have shifted toward the diss, so I thought I'd offer up one my favorite paragraphs so far, from chapter 1. It's exactly the kind of paragraph that might get cut, but I hope it doesn't:. Thursday, March 12, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Thats etymology, not entymology. sam-plings: Hot for Teaching
http://sam-plings.blogspot.com/2009/02/hot-for-teaching.html
Sunday, February 8, 2009. Ugh Sorry for being away for so long, but there's a good reason: I'm finally writing my diss, really putting words on paper, and I'm excited about the direction it's taking. Which means every other kind of writing seems kind of superfluous right now. But I don't want to lose the, like, three people who read this blog. So far, the students have liked Dickinson the best, and for very good reason. What an amazing poet she is. Sam, sounds exciting! February 9, 2009 at 12:29 AM.

The Spauldings in Florida: 10 for TDYs
http://spauldings.blogspot.com/2011/06/10-for-tdys.html
The Spauldings in Florida. Updates from the Emerald Coast. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. 10 on Tuesday: Why I love my husband. 1) He returned from a business trip with flowers this time (smart man). 2) He is a phenomenal Dad. 3) He can cook (really well). 4) The man knows how to clean (and he helps out on a regular basis). 5) After a 9 day TDY, he knows just how to bring a smile to my face (believe me, I wasn't smiling when he returned home a day late). 7) He makes me a better person. 8) He calms me down.

sam-plings: September 2008
http://sam-plings.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 27, 2008. I watched last night's debate and I've been digesting the reaction to it all day, via the news sites and blogs I frequent. A few of my own impressions:. 1) McCain is a much better debater than he is speechmaker. I was impressed by his breadth of knowledge, at least about international relations and general world history. I thought his rantings about earmarks were laughable, given their relative insiginifance in the larger scheme of things. 5) I don't think anyone who has alr...

Violet & Gray: December 2014
http://violetandgray.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 19, 2014. I miss being here. The year has slipped by in a blur of hours, days, and months, and here we are, 10 months since my last post. This collection of family moments and platform to share them has always been a creative outlet. My work has eaten up the better part of my days, and time with my kids is fleeting and precious. Sam got me a new camera for my 38th birthday this year - a kind nudge to keep taking pics and capture the fleeting moments. Links to this post. Bonnie Being a Kim.
