Politically RTiculate: Yes Voters Waiting to Happen?
http://politicallyrticulate.blogspot.com/2014/06/yes-voters-waiting-to-happen.html
Occasionally crotchety, but never quavering. Saturday, 28 June 2014. Yes Voters Waiting to Happen? I was part of a small but perfectly formed group out canvassing this morning for 'Yes' votes. I've been 'off duty' for a couple of weeks due to a wedding over in Islay and a flooded house which greeted us on our return. It was good to be back to normality for a Saturday morning. HH1: I'm voting no. RT: That's fine, thanks. Would you mind if I asked you why you're voting no? At this, I knew I was in with a s...

Politically RTiculate: The importance of winning well
http://politicallyrticulate.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-importance-of-winning-well.html
Occasionally crotchety, but never quavering. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. The importance of winning well. Whatever September 19 demands of each side in the referendum debate, let’s hope they rise to the occasion. Snap polling gave the debate to Alex by a margin of 71-29, with handsome leads as well in terms of which man had the more appealing personality and the better arguments. Tempting as it might have been to reprise Jonathan Watson's impression of football pundit Chic Young with a cheery 'Gubbed!

Politically RTiculate: October 2014
http://politicallyrticulate.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Occasionally crotchety, but never quavering. Friday, 10 October 2014. It’s going to take a little longer. My post-Referendum Scots Independent Column. As defeats go it could have been worse. Much worse. Remember when we were being hectored by those who understand such matters that a ‘No’ vote was ‘in the bag’, and the only remaining question was how large the winning margin was going to be? Naturally, thoughts turn to ‘what if? The first chance to get those new recruits in action will be next year's West...

Politically RTiculate: Richard for Aberdeen North
http://politicallyrticulate.blogspot.com/2015/01/richard-for-aberdeen-north.html
Occasionally crotchety, but never quavering. Wednesday, 7 January 2015. Richard for Aberdeen North. As some of you may know, I'm currently involved in the contest to be selected as the SNP Candidate for the Aberdeen North constituency at the upcoming Westminster Election. I'll be writing a piece in the next day or so on why I've decided to get involved, but meantime, here's a link to my selection campaign Facebook page. A bit about Richard. After taking up a post as a Senior Parliamentary Researcher for ...

Politically RTiculate: March 2015
http://politicallyrticulate.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Occasionally crotchety, but never quavering. Thursday, 19 March 2015. Taking 'No' For An Answer. February's SI column. Just why do some erstwhile 'No' campaigners find it so hard to take 'No' for an answer? 8216;But. we won! 8217; is the plaintive cry. And it’s true enough, at least measured by votes in ballot boxes. The mistake was to assume that a ‘No’ vote meant a return to politics as usual and that with the scales having fallen from their eyes, that Scottish voters would fo...Perhaps one reason why ...

Politically RTiculate: Will Murphy Cure Labour's Hangover?
http://politicallyrticulate.blogspot.com/2015/01/will-murphy-cure-labours-hangover.html
Occasionally crotchety, but never quavering. Tuesday, 6 January 2015. Will Murphy Cure Labour's Hangover? As far as any claims to fame I might have go I have to confess that this one is quite unusual, but here goes. Despite him being famously teetotal and our only having been together in the same room once, newly-crowned Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy is partly responsible for the worst hangover I've ever had in my life. It's a total wipe-out! Aw naw, Jim Murphy's an MP! I remember barking him into an...
