Grow Me A Boat: January 2012
http://growmeaboat.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 30, 2012. The ice shelf is indeed the ocean, and the joys of sleeping in a snow trench. I took this picture as I was taking out the trash after a night of bartending. Still stops me in my tracks every time. You can see open water on the right side of the picture, compliments of the Russian icebreaker that's been milling about creating a path for the fuel tanker and resupply vessel. A few weeks ago I got to go to Snow Survival School, AKA Happy Camper, AKA "that part in Encounters at the E...

I am still very bad at actually telling people about things I am participating in. But in the interest of not starting every post with an apology for not posting, I'll cut right to it: for those of you who live in Seattle, I'm reading this Saturday, January 26th as part of A Quintet of Quays, AKA the third installment of the Greenwood Lit Crawl. Full lineup and addresses here:. I have ...
Grow Me A Boat: Going Home
http://growmeaboat.blogspot.com/2012/02/going-home.html
Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Once we finally started seeing open water, whales started appearing, and usually on my hikes I’ll see handfuls of them surface in the melt pools. Their spouting sounds like the hydraulics of some vastly echoing factory floor, and it’s hard to believe that the origin is organic rather than mechanical. There is something utterly surreal in the way the noise travels across the surface of the fractured ice. 8216;I just got back from Antarctica,’ they’re saying. McMurdo is set up t...

http://growmeaboat.blogspot.com/2013/03/sneak-peeks-from-how-goes-battle.html
Monday, March 25, 2013. Sneak peeks from How Goes the Battle? I am neck deep in studio mode right now as I have a show opening at Joe Bar on April 11th. Put it on 'yer calendar, I'll update with invitation links and what not when I have 'em. The show is called How Goes the Battle? In the presence of supple. Goodness, some people. Grow less flexible,. They wouldn’t have thought possible. It is as strange and paradoxical. As the combined suffering. Of Pinocchio and Geppetto. I can’t be human after all.

Friday, December 23, 2011. Under the Bed Gallery Opening. This is a very true statement. I'm trying to keep up my usual Tessa pace and do about 5 things outside of work (on that note, I'm going to start posting playlists from my radio shows. eventually. at some point. when I find time. (also, I apologize to all the people I owe letters to! And "Do I want to nap now, or nap later? Keep the Outside Notions of Antarctica submissions coming! My favorite piece. Video of it at the bottom of this post. This pos...

The Return - Justin Gibbins | All Things Justin Gibbins
The Return – Justin Gibbins. All Things Justin Gibbins. This And That, But Mostly This. December 8, 2011 - Leave a Response. This is just a simple test of some UDK mechanics I’m implementing into a greater work. I built a quick little playground to test jump heights and speeds, etc. Just wanted to get a visual sense of how this played for a sense of the whole project. In other news, I also recorded some more audio for another project. More on that when it’s more substantially implemented. However this te...

Tumblr and Lady Gaga the next threat to Facebook? Everyone is debating if Google. Can compete with Facebook, even going as far as to outline how Google can beat Facebook. But all the focus on Google has overshadowed a possibly more important event in the battle against Facebook - Lady Gaga joins Tumblr. Is this similar to when Telia Toquila was requited to MySpace.
