Replaced the rear hatch struts (the new struts, from GoWesty, needed extra washers at the bottom to hold it out enough to clear the door, we ended up using the two plastic washers - that came off the original - and two metal washers). Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Ok, here is the update. We have been working night and day on Sloth. We attempted to change the seals on the oil cooler. What was VW thinking when they put the oil cooler is the most hard to get to place ever! We lowered the engine, pulled off the two left tins, lowered the alternator (changed the belt while we were there) and then ran into a snag. We could not remove the last three bolts! Wish us luck. I have lots of pictures to post and will put them up in the next entry.
