Sleeping Dog Weaving: June 2011
http://sleepingdogstudios.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
I am a weaver and bookbinder, so this blog will be mostly about those topics but I'm also passionate about nature and public lands, so some of this will undoubtedly creep in. Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Too long since I’ve posted. Since the last time, when I was still untangling the mess I made, the yarn has been wound into two warp bouts, beamed onto the back beam and threaded:. Friday, June 17, 2011. It Takes Two to Tangle. This is what it looked like as we got close to the end:. Thursday, June 09, 2011.

Cat Brysch Creations Studio: Hazle is Sighing....
http://catbryschcreationsstudio.blogspot.com/2013/12/hazle-is-sighing.html
Cat Brysch Creations Studio. On a loom that whispers, with shuttles that fly. And bobbins that chatter as the hours go by. I'll not lay in one thread of mere chance. As I work in the motion of the weaver's dance. Monday, December 23, 2013. How do I start.Yes, I really mean sighing. Okay, just let me explain. It's like the loom is saying, "Here she comes. Here she comes.". And then I pass her by once again on my way SOME where else in the studio. "SIGH! I call this pattern Squash Blossom and Beetle. Th...

In October 2012 I went to New Zealand for my uncle's funeral. It's a reasonably long flight from here at 15 hours, and I figured I needed an easy project to knit, that I could pick up and drop without losing my place. The Revontulli pattern was ideal, and also used up some yarn in my stash that needed a simple enough lace pattern to not overpower the yarn. Kauni Wool 8/2 Effektgarn in colour EV, one complete skein. I had to rip back the last two rows to have sufficient yarn to bind off. January 6, 2013.

Follow me as I weave along the way. Category Archives: Canvas Weave. The Tale of 2 Scarves. May 12, 2015. I find it hard to weave two things alike. My brain wants change. Boredom sets in, and distractions keep me from the loom. So something gets changed up. It’s usually not worth putting a warp on that only makes one finished item so I change the treadling, tie up, or weft yarns used. Next I’ll move on to other weave structures, leaving canvas weave behind. April 26, 2015. The weave structure used in the...

It’s not dead, just pining for the fjords…. WeaveZine was down for about a week recently and I’ve been asked questions about that. Sorry about that. The good news is that the site is back up and stable. It’s easier than ever to navigate, and is more protected from spammers. Happy to keep the archives online for both you and me. It start...

Writer, weaver, and all-around curious person. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. May 25, 2012. This past weekend I traveled down to Oakland to teach at the Conference of Northern California Handweavers. It was a fun time. I hadn’t been immersed in the fiber world in a while and it was good to be back. I was there to teach two classes, “Beginning Rigid Heddle Weaving” and “e-Textiles”. It’s always a blast teaching beginning weaving, because there’s this “ah-ha! I had so much fun, that I&...

Follow me as I weave along the way. Category Archives: Handwoven Scarves. June 23, 2016. This painted skein of yarn intrigued me when shopping at HGA Convergence vendor hall in 2014. There was only one skein with this color scheme, yet it would be enough for warp for one scarf with some to spare. Weft color choices will enhance the warp. Or leave you wondering what was I thinking😦. Spicing up Huck Lace. June 14, 2016. Varigated warp, Solid weft. Varigated Tencel warp. Metallic quilting thread weft.
