Having chosen the first Responders as one of her charities for the year, Sue became aware of how desperately important defibrillators are to our community and how few there actually are available for public use. What LDC has been up to recently:. Now Installed: cPads going up at Railway Road Surgery, WLBC Offices and Stanley Depot. A big promotional push is out in these communities to inform of the defib whereabouts, what to do if it is needed and also to continue on-going work in the area with Heartstart training. By the end of February other cPad installations will take place at Dangerous Corner, Wrightington, Central Skelmersdale and the Village Hall in Scarisbrick.

Lancashire Defibrillator Campaign working in partnership with North West Ambulance Service offer FREE British Heart Foundation Heart Start Training to members of the public at various locations throughout the county. The courses last two hours and offers hands-on training. The Heartstart course is designed to follow the current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines. The Heartstart programme includes skills such as:. Assessing an unconscious patient. Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
