Silver-Lined: February 2013

Tuesday, February 5, 2013. My Italian Comedy of Errors, Part VII. I couldn't really do anything about the problems with my prescription until a few days after Christmas, when my doctor's office would be open again, so I had to just be patient for a few days. The Dome of the Reichstag. We made a quick trip to Berlin two weeks ago. But it said my A1c was 4.9. And I knew that there was no way that was possible. And so I went to Google to try to help solve this problem. I still haven't determined exactly...

Friday, May 24, 2013. Five years ago today, I married the man of my dreams. I hate cliches, but it's true! What an adventure we've had together. Ups and downs, more ups and more downs. Chronic illnesses, unemployment, transatlantic moves, culture shock. We're better together, for now and forever. First anniversary, camping in the Poconos. Second anniversary, day at Longwood Gardens and dinner at Morimoto. Third anniversary, dinner at Cuba Libre. Fourth anniversary, trip to Sorrento and Capri. On Diabetes...

Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Wordless Wednesday: Scenes from the Artichoke Festival in Ladispoli. A beautiful spring day plus more artichokes than you've ever seen before! It was fabulous :). Links to this post. Monday, April 8, 2013. The Day of Five Lows. Some days just don't go as they should, diabetes-wise. I had one of those days not too long ago, and there really wasn't a good explanation for it. One day last week, I went low five times. Two crazy thoughts crossed my mind:. 2 Am I pregnant? I left my ...

Monday, May 19, 2014. With the dissertation, defense, graduation, and trying to get everything ready for baby, my bump pictures and updates here have been seriously lacking. But, I am in the home stretch and have no idea how much longer baby girl will be on the inside here, so I thought I'd do another post for good measure. No big deal, just 11 weeks have passed since that last one. How big is baby. Swiss chard. This girl is somewhere around 6 or 7 pounds already. But really the bump is fairly petite for...

Friday, January 31, 2014. I keep doing these updates so late in the week that the title should actually be something like 21w5d. I'm almost 22 weeks already! How big is baby. I'm pretty sure I've held steady since last week. I really don't weigh myself too often, and I don't think there's nay real change here. But it's improved dramatically as the week has gone one. Sure, I still wake up a few times a night, but I'm doing my best to keep my brain off so that I don't stay awake. She's a pretty consistent ...

Silver-Lined: December 2012
http://silverlined-details.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 31, 2012. 2012 has been an amazing year in so many ways, but it's also been very trying. Dissertation, diabetes, the struggles of living in a different culture, missing my friends and family. But it's also been really wonderful in terms of new friendships, travelling, and just riding this roller coaster with the inimitable Nick. I thought I'd do a photo recap post since my blogging in 2012 has been.less than regular. In April, it was Easter and Nick's parents came for a visit:. November,...

Wednesday, April 30, 2014. I am still alive. Despite my serious lack of posting. But I have good excuses! First, check out the baby bump:. This was taken on Easter when I was 33 weeks along. Ten days later makes me 34w3days. Phew! Here are some highlights from the last several weeks with regard to the impending baby girl:. Things are still looking good! I've started my twice-weekly non-stress testing and starting next week I have my OB appointments weekly (I should just live at the doctor's office).

Thursday, January 31, 2013. My Italian Comedy of Errors, Part V. Tell me that you love me more. What's so exciting about living in Italy is that this drama is never ending! Even today I had an experience that will get added on to the end of this loooooong tale. The day arrived for me to go see my diabetes doctor friend. It was an.interesting visit. I won't recall it in a great deal of detail, but here were some highlights:. Rome's last standing pyramid. I had left work early enough in the day that I thou...

Thursday, February 6, 2014. Time is going so fast! How big is baby. Spaghetti squash. She's weighing in at about one pound. Maybe I'm up a bit? I have a doctor's appointment next week, so we'll see. I am definitely feeling the weight of the belly as I roll over at night. It went from easy to difficult overnight (pun intended)! She's definitely there a few times a day. Still no definitive jabs, but I know it will happen soon. Time is flying, remember? Just a bit of stretching here and there. I'm still...
