Mt. Tam Blog: February 2014
http://jwallphoto.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 28, 2014. I feel at home in this landscape. I'm intimate with it, and getting my camera to see it is second nature. It's the world I'm passionate about. It's where my art unfolds, and the opportunities are endless. Paul Nicklen, from Masters of Nature Photography. Edge of Bon Tempe Lake. Turkeys in a Row. Hail on Panoramic Highway. Snowboarding on Mt. Tam. Black Chanterelles, White Snow. Fly on Dogtail Grass. John W. Wall. Sunday, February 23, 2014. By the time I reached Steep Ravine I k...

Mt. Tam Blog: November 2013
http://jwallphoto.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 30, 2013. Some days, not a single animal passed by, and the deer above was the only deer all week. But I did catch a gray fox on two different days. On this second catch (early this morning), the fox stepped into the frame and seemed to spot the camera. But he quickly surmised there was no threat and continued on his way. John W. Wall. The biggest excitement is getting to know individuals. I really enjoy that - to partake in their day. What's going on in their world? John W. Wall.
Mt. Tam Blog: Around the Horn
http://jwallphoto.blogspot.com/2014/05/around-horn.html
Saturday, May 31, 2014. I was thinking about driving around the whole mountain for my last regular post (the farewell post is scheduled for 11:30 tonight), but I didn't plan ahead and couldn't pull it off. I'm usually pretty worn out after a few hours of stalking the wild photographs. The deer from the previous shot is still in there. Okay, I'm going to go with "harvest brodiaea" for this guy. Does anyone really know how to pronounce "brodiaea"? Is the "ea" silent? Chamise ( Adenostoma fasciculatum.

Intrepid Manitoban: April 2010
http://intrepidmanitoban.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 30, 2010. Trip Report - Southwest. My scanning project was waylaid by a s-l-o-o-o-o-w computer, that problem is fixed, but now I've got new ones! Can't use my faithful "Riptide" image program, so the pics in this post are uncropped and not resized. But we finally got to take a trip! Had to pack all of our birding into one day, but we managed! One of the first birds we spotted was a far off Swainson's Hawk! This fellow looks like he's crossing his legs. A bit more classic pose. We also saw a...

Amateur naturalists discuss the flora and fauna of the San Francisco Bay Area of California, USA. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. A Green Anole on Maui. He has a dewlap or throatfan under his chin that he would open up from time to time. It was bright red or orange in color and would stick out from under his neck by half an inch or so. He wouldn't do this when I had the camera on him, though. But, here is a picture of a gecko with his dewlap out. Some say they escaped from a pet store. Links to this post.
Tracking the Muse: Adjustments
http://pamelaheyda.blogspot.com/2012/04/adjustments.html
Sunday, April 29, 2012. This past week has been an adventure in eating adjustments. I’ve been slowly transitioning myself to a vegan, gluten free, low glycemic diet. After getting sick on pizza last weekend I decided I could not longer make exceptions to the diet and went 100%. I hope it helps. I’ve had increasing digestive problems for about five years now. I’m trying not to focus on what I can’t eat, and more on what I can. It will take a little getting used to. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Tracking the Muse: October 2011
http://pamelaheyda.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 31, 2011. Well, I almost did it. I set 9 goals for October and completed all but one. I failed to create at least 15 pieces to sell. It might have happened but I ran out of materials. On Tuesday I expect a new delivery of supplies and then I’m off and running again. I can’t wait! Today I wrote out goals for November. I’m looking forward to this month’s work because it is almost all “hands-on”. In addition to making the pieces I planned for last month, I’ll sketch them too. Meditation is g...

Thursday, April 19, 2012. Building Slime Mold (on Canvas). I’ve been playing around with slime mold paintings. They are like relief paintings, made with Golden brand Acrylic Molding Paste. Recently I blogged about using cake decorating tools to control the medium. Here is a photo of me at work, and another finished piece. Untitled, acrylic and micro beads on canvas, 2 x 3", 2012. Gardening, critters and hikes within sight of Boston. Sunday, June 7, 2015. Plexiglass makes taking pics of birds MUCH easier. Monday, April 28, 2014. Sanderling at sundown, Plymouth Beach. My most recent trip to Plymouth Beach was reminiscent of a California beach trip for me. I arrived a few hours before the sun was scheduled to set under clear blue skies. Then as I walked further along the beach, the beautiful high-level clouds started to move in. By the time I had reached what should have the "golden hour" I was sitting under delightful gray skies! See more in my Sanderlings Gallery. Sunday, April 27, 2014. This image of res...
Early morning willet, Bunche Beach Preserve | Pat Ulrich Wildlife Photography Blog
http://blog.patulrichphotography.com/2015/05/early-morning-willet-bunche-beach.html
Friday, May 1, 2015. Early morning willet, Bunche Beach Preserve. On my trip to Florida in March, I enjoyed the chance to photograph a variety of bird species that we don't get to see up here in the northeast. But no matter where I am, its hard to pass up an opportunity to photograph a shorebird, even if a plain old willet like this one. What they lack in color and plumage pattern they certainly make up for in character! View more photographs of willets. Labels: Bunche Beach Preserve. Environmental engin...

Sharing my love for Japanese wallpapers. Jul 17th, 2008 at 6:23 PM. I was looking at my J Wallpapers site and saw this absolutely beautiful D Grayman wallpaper. And I just had to look the anime and manga up. I've read five chapters thus far in onemanga.com and I must say I am impressed, though I will have to admit that the plot got me spooked in some parts. I've also watched the first episode and was equally impressed with the Anime version. Like a combination of both brothers. Guess that's it for now :).

So I was sitting on the edge of the world out at Chimney Rock this morning, thinking about a couple of books I've been reading: The Tale of the Dueling Neurosurgeons. By Sam Kean, and The Brain That Changes Itself. And that was just the stuff going on in my skull! About life itself —. From the strings that build the quarks that ...
