Oh Yes I Know: Third Culture Community
http://ohyesiknow.blogspot.com/2010/07/third-culture-community.html
Oh Yes I Know. Your brother's cries of jubilation. Wednesday, July 21, 2010. The shame that comes with showing rich friends your life without air conditioning, pools, and servants becomes something familiar. We've learned how it feels. We've learned that to fend off the shame, we must concentrate on what we love and what is beautiful about ourselves, our cultures (as confused as they may be), our families, and our situations. Thanks for sharing this Michael! July 27, 2010 at 7:51 AM. Me - Moi - Yo - Io.

Oh Yes I Know. Your brother's cries of jubilation. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Let the Rain Come. A homeless man in Lafayette, Indiana expressed to me his anger that most people invest more money in and spend more time on their dogs than the suffering human beings down the street. This is true, we go to great lengths to satisfy a selfish whim; yet, when the most crucial needs of our neighbors stare us in the face, we pretend not to notice. Monday, April 20, 2009. Oh Yes I Know. Your brother's cries of jubilation. Monday, June 22, 2009. Culture Accepted as Truth. We’re so used to all this, we can’t even imagine things any other way. We’re convinced that the way we see it is the (t / T)ruth. But then breaking that in ourselves and in others is why cultural exchange is always so rich and rewarding. Saturday, June 13, 2009. Oh Yes I Know. Your brother's cries of jubilation. Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Una Forma de Amar Diferente. These days, I'm doing quite well. The interpersonal stress in my household over gender/personality issues has calmed down a little, and while they mostly remain unresolved, things are at least friendly. I'm feeling more comfortable in this house and with work, things like community meal (when 20 people show up to eat dinner with the 10 of us) no longer stress me out. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? Return to Santa Cruz. Last Friday, we traveled on a bus through the night to arrive in Santa Cruz Saturday morning. Although I didn’t sleep wonderfully, the trip went well, and it was fun to meet up with the other MCC workers again. Before leaving Cochabamba, we had a few interesting and exciting experiences. In the MCC library I found a book about Latin American history that someone recommended to me called. 8212; and a new book titled.

What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? The strangest food I’ve eaten in Bolivia:. Armadillo. one day when i got home for lunch there was half an armadillo sitting on the fire stove. i was a little hestitant when we started opening up the animal and pulling the meat off its body. although i think it would take me some time to really like it, its juicy unique flavor was interesting to try. Things I encounter on my 20 minute walk into town day:. Working with the wind instruments.
