Went to Bath on a day-trip for my 26th birthday yesterday! Life is far too important a thing ever to talk seriously about. Went to Bath on a day-trip for my 26th birthday yesterday! I walked around with my friend Tara, who was just at the end of her whirlwind across-England tour. The Circle, an early Georgian "square" of beautiful, connected rowhouses surrounding a round green of three large trees. A giant manor house. A spectacular sunset, viewed from the window of the train as I was leaving Bath at 8:45.

Performance of epics etc. - Old English Community

Performance of epics etc. Dear fellow Anglo-Saxonist aficionados,. Could anyone advise me on some reading about how poetry was actually performed, i.e. the surrounding, the context, the location (obviously this is the mead-hall), especially the food and drink and the kinds of social and magical rituals that may have accompanied it. Many thanks! December 23rd, 2010 03:26 pm (UTC). The main ritual seems to have been telling people to shut up and listen (the notorious "Hwaet! The comments I was thinking of:...

http://lazy-students.livejournal.com/3341.html
Advice from Self-Indentifying Academics. Hi, There is this really great prof who taught me for ten minutes. I thought it would be nice to show my appreciation. I was just wondering what kind of gift is appropriate for me to give him? I was thinking of getting him this really neat Dining table and chairs from Ikea. do you think that would be too much? How about a couple of shirts? Should I just send a card? Has anyone else ever been in this situation and what did you do? Or as an egg donor? Posted on May&...

Ugh. The language, it hurts. - Lazy Ass Students
http://lazy-students.livejournal.com/7922.html
Advice from Self-Indentifying Academics. Ugh The language, it hurts. I just read this line in one of my student's final exam answers:. For example, Mamet's thematical issue talks about consequences people feel about issues.". No, the "issue" doesn't talk about anything. For that matter, neither does the play, nor even Mamet himself. But more importantly, what the hell does this mean, anyway? The essay did not get any better. Posted on Aug. 16th, 2006 at 09:53 pm. Consequences people feel about issues.

Essences of Voudon, Tantrika, Tunnels of Set and the Doorways Inbetween. Jun 26th, 2007 @ 10:30 pm. The buzz on the New Orleans Gnostic Vodoun list is that the "expanded edition" of the VGW is not so expanded - pretty much an exact reprint. None of the missing diagrams are included and the "expansion" seems to consist of two pages of preface. So, if you couldn't afford the out of print version, this is worth getting, but if you're looking for new material, you may be disappointed.
