After two nights in Cusco, we hopped on the train for a gorgeous, three-and-a-half-hour ride to Aguas Calientes, the tiny town at the base of the mountains where Machu Picchu is perched. This morning we took a two-hour speed boat ride from Isabela to Santa Cruz Island and are now at the Finch Bay Eco Hotel, which, like our last two locations, is perched right on the edge of the ocean. Our tour guide, Tomas, showed us a street in Santa Cruz that turns into one giant patio at night, and he said that it’s one of the spots we could eat in an outdoor market setting without getting sick (he was right).
