An idea initially floated by the Greater New York Recovery Project, to leave portions of the New York-2 creature’s exoskeleton in situ as a memorial, was met with vocal protests from New Yorkers. Those portions of the New York-2 carcass that have not been relocated to the Smithsonian will be moved to a military storage facility in the Nevada desert.
