The Tribeca Film Festival. Passes (all-day admission for one to all general and special screenings of the Festival, as well as admission to Festival lounges and music venues). Two Chinese people, married, and going to the movies like a first date. Only we get to attend whatever movie we want playing at the Tribeca Film Festival. For one whole day of the festival. any number. Of movies playing for the entire day. (There's. um. a LOT. Playing on any one given day of the Tribeca Film Festival). We decided w...

Mmmmm My wife got me just a small sample pint of passion fruit sorbet from Ciao Bella. Wow It sure is cold out there, and it sure is winter, and I'm still eating this. I can't believe how awesome it is. If you do find a Ciao Bella location near you, I highly recommend you check them out. So unbelievably good, I can't wait to have more. You know, I talk a lot (especially here) about how fascinated (read: obsessed). For the past three nights in a row, we've eaten Italian. Posted by jamah at 9:37 PM. Get on...

For quite some time now, there's been a buzz about David Chang, a former line cook at Craft (another brilliant dining institution that I haven't had a chance to actually try yet), bringing a popular and wildly successful noodle bar to the East Village. For long enough, we've postponed trying out Chang's creations for ourselves, but after tonight we can tell you the facts: My friends, Momofuku. Lives up to everything you've heard and more. The interior and the decor:. Tripe and roasted rice cakes. What di...

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Sodom and Gomorrah Show! The Sodom and Gomorrah Show, Pet Shop Boys. We were lucky enough to have orchestra seats to the Pet Shop Boys live at Radio City Saturday night! Of course, I've been a long-time fan, and the show was just unbelievably fantastic! I can't tell you how much I loved the show and how unbelievably great it was. It was just so so so so SO. I won't ruin or degrade the experience by trying to describe it in words. It really just was THAT great. Sometim...

It's time to celebrate our first year of being very happily married. I can't take the credit for bringing home that fantastic bottle of champagne - it was all my wife's idea, proving once again that I'd be nowhere without her. Posted by jamah at 11:59 PM. We spent 10 days in Rome, Florence, and Venice. We had a layover in Zurich for about eight hours, and although it was just a few hours, we liked it a lot - enough to think that maybe Switzerland will be our next travel destination. Lost In Translation p...

Deal Or No Deal! Deal or No Deal. Posted by jamah at 9:33 PM. So, as I mentioned earlier, I managed to get in on the American Express giveaway of two free US Open tickets. We went to the night session on Monday (Labor Day) and had an absolutely fantastic time. The first match we saw was A. Mauresmo v. S. Williams. We're big fans of the Williams sisters, so it was a little disappointing to see her lose, but Amelie clearly played very very well and was extremely graceful. Posted by jamah at 8:07 PM. Unfort...

Friday, February 19, 2010. The Little Ox Greets the Year of the Tiger. Happy Chinese New Year! I can't believe Isaac is already 2.5 months old. It has been a roller coaster ride since we had him on Nov 30th: constant feedings, diaper changes, cuddling and tickling. It was quite stressful in the beginning, and I am so thankful that my family was willing to help us, or else we wouldn't have survived. Also, luckily my husband shares every chore enthusiastically. Helen Ma's Tea Eggs. 3/4 cup of soy sauce.

Since, I can't seem to find where I stored my winter accessories, it was time to make some new ones. I fell in love with the Purl Beret. Links to this post. Wednesday, November 05, 2008. Monday, August 10, 2009. I was never interested in knitting baby hats, because it didn't seem challenging enough. I changed my mind when I wandered through Takashimaya. And saw all the cute knit hats. They were so tiny and so soft, I knew I had to make one. I chose the Umbilical Cord Hat. Pattern by Jennifer L. Jones from the Stitch n' Bitch. Links to this post.
