What it looks like to me: January 2007

http://kaitlynfae.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

What it looks like to me. Monday, January 22, 2007. We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming. To talk about the fact that it SNOWED in Tucson last night. Enough snow, that at 10AM we still had snow everywhere. You can't imagine my excitement! Those of you up north will mock these pictures, but consider the fact that it never snows here, and then cut me the requisite slack. ok? If the plant wasn't dead to begin with, I think this is the final blow. Snow cap on a tiny bud. Thursday, January 18, 2007.

What it looks like to me: July 2006

http://kaitlynfae.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html

What it looks like to me. Sunday, July 30, 2006. We'd been wondering what semi-ghost town meant, and then we found one. As with most ghost towns that have survived into the 21st century, the original town location and the semi-ghost town location are in 2 different places, making reading the map very difficult as the map only locates the new town. Usually the two towns are close together but there are no signs or directions so you drive around looking for old buildings, which isn't a bad pursuit. It's ac...

What it looks like to me: Roatan

http://kaitlynfae.blogspot.com/2009/01/roatan.html

What it looks like to me. Friday, January 30, 2009. Plus, i was sitting in an exit row and no one seemed to care. Didn't get any questions about my ability to lift a 7 year old child (the estimated weight of the exit door if i have to open it manually) or my age (can't be a child, dontcha know). So I read the exit door and figured out how to open it, checked for my vest, then kicked off my shoes and followed the pilot's instructions to sit back and relax while he took me to Roatan. And two lines of people.

What it looks like to me. Sunday, December 31, 2006. Mom and dad et.al left yesterday under some amount of duress. Pippa - or Lil P, as Ive taken to calling her - was sick all night long the night before they left. Poor baby, poor parents. Needless to say, I think everyone was ready to be home. Posted by KBARRETT at 8:48 AM. Friday, December 29, 2006. So here s a little of this and that. Overall this trip has been an amazing. A blend of memories and new experiences. Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Artistic response to Trans-pacific flight. Well in short there is a lot of humble pie out here and I inadvertently ordered up a pretty big slice that has made me feel somewhat ill. But more on that in a minute. Life in the tube. Wednesday, December 1, 2010. Mike and I traveled through Phnom Penh on our way to Seim Reap a tourist town right outside of Angkor Wat the thousand year old temples of the ancient Khmer. Phnom Penh kind of sneaks up on you as you drive in. Scattered farms coalesce into closer buildings, built up corners and street vendors until dense, multi-story apartment buildings surround you on every side. Sidewalks, which are very prevalent, become scooter parking and outdoor patios. Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We ended u...

Monday, October 8, 2012. Hello everyone. So I'd like to introduce the latest member of the Nate Barrett Family. She is a 1973 Ford Gran Torino two door sport coupe. Don't let the outward appearance fool you she is stripped down for paint and some minor body work but she'll be up and glamourous pretty quick. Under the hood she has a LTD 351 modified V8 which isn't stock but has a few more horses than the original 302. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). What it looks like to me. Salt River Canyon Trip.

Thursday, February 11, 2010. Welcome back friends. Apparently 2009 was not a great year for blogging. None-the-less there were some worthwhile events that have escaped notice. It also occurs to me that I left off with the Baja trip a little abruptly. So allow me to wrap up that story and then over the next few posts briefly highlight some worthwhile events over 2009. Tuesday, November 23, 2010. Well friends here we are again . . . On the road again. It has been a rewarding year so far and we can only hope it continues in the same vein. I spent the winter in Arkansas refreshing my love of the job and the people and moved back to Arizona for the summer season. 2010 fire season was pretty mild and the crew worked about the average amount. But now it is time for some time off. Onboard with me is Mike of Baja Mexico fame. Stay tuned to see how it turns out.

kaiti n' haiti

Thursday, April 14, 2011. I'm back and going back. I am back to blogging (for a stint) and I am going back to Haiti! So while I was down in Haiti- there were many times I would pray, God, why am I here? And most of the time I got the feeling that my friends and family at home were being affected greatly by my adventure- friendships were deepened, hearts were broken for Haitians and prayers were more fervent. (I know my mom shot up some fervent prayers during that time, right? You want me to lead what?

The world through the eyes of a teenage amateur photographer. A Rescued Killdeer from the Park. August 8, 2015. My family and I were out at the park down the street for the afternoon, playing fetch with the dogs and running around the field as we usually do. We noticed a little Killdeer bird running around too, trying to avoid the dogs. If one of us got too close, it would just run away,…. My name is Kaitlyn! Welcome to my blog! Best of Berlin with MJH, pt 2. June 2, 2015. By no means is this the best of everything in Berlin. But it’s definitely the best of my last week with Matt and includes some of my favorite things in Berlin. Part 1 is here. I do love currywurst. Who can argue with a street snack so simple as cut up sausage covered in tomatoey curry goodness eaten with a tiny wooden fork? And of course, a currywurst sample at the end of the visit. Mauerpark is one of my favorite Sunday locations. When the weather coopera...

Gypsy Queen

I don’t remember much of my history lessons from high school but I do remember reading about the Hagia Sofia. Largest dome in the world for hundreds of years, an engineering architectural marvel that collapsed several times and had to be rebuilt, it was my first stop in Istanbul. I love these marble floors, grooved and worn from almost two thousand years worth of people walking over them. And these low flat chandelier light fixtures that were once oil lamps and now are electric. As is the view. I found t...
